October 8, 1971
A few days had passed and it was now the day Queen left for their tour. Thalia felt terrible about leaving Aunt Dottie on her own with the shop for a month, but she understood that Thalia wanted to spend as much time with her boyfriend as she could before she told him she was pregnant. Thalia loved John very much, but she was afraid of being like her mother, who abandoned her own child to be with the man she loved. Deep down Thalia knew that John wouldn't leave her just because she was pregnant, she was just scared of what could happen.
Thalia had finished her packing that morning and met up at John's apartment.
"Good morning, dear," John greeted Thalia with a kiss on the cheek. "You all ready?"
Thalia nodded. "Yep, I have everything I need right here." She patted the suitcase that was at her side.
Once Brian and Freddie arrived in a junky old van, the couple packed their bags in wherever they could fit amidst all of the band's equipment.
"Sorry we were so late. Freddie tried to sneak one of his cats in his bag and she ran away," Brian apologized.
Freddie huffed as he butted into the conversation. "Well if you wouldn't have scared her like that-"
"All I did was pick her up!" Brian interjected.
"She afraid of heights, Brian!" Freddie yelled. After an uncomfortable silence, Freddie perked up again. "Well, the four of us are here, it's time for us to head out!" He jumped into the passenger seat.
"Wait, what about Roger?" Thalia asked.
Freddie shrugged and looked around. "I was never that good at math," He said as he climbed back out of the car.
Brian and John went back into the apartment to find Roger.
"Now that I think of it, I haven't seen Roger all day," John mumbled.
"How have you not seen him?" Brian asked, becoming increasingly irritated. "You live in the same bloody apartment."
John simply shrugged as the two busted into Roger's room. The Blond man was sleeping peacefully in his bed, a line of drool down his chin. His hair was strewn all about his pile of pillows and blankets. John ripped open the curtains and Brian shook Roger awake.
Roger sat up and looked around with half closed eyes.
"Bri... Deaky..." He said groggily.
"Get up," Brian ordered. "We should be leaving already."
"Have you even packed?" John asked, looking around Roger's messy room.
Thalia soon followed into Roger's room. She looked around in disgust. After noticing an empty suitcase in the corner of the room, Thalia began to fold any of the clean clothes and put them inside. The three men looked at her.
"What are you doing, dear?" John asked.
Thalia looked up at him, a stinky old Roger shirt in her clutch. "I just figured it would be faster if I helped out." She took a whiff of the short and quickly threw it aside.
A beep was heard from outside.
"It seems Freddie's getting impatient," Brian said as he lifted Roger out of the bed.
Thalia sped up her packing. "Why hadn't you already packed?" She asked Roger.
"I don't need to pack yet, we're leaving on Friday," Roger said matter of factly.
Brian glared at Roger. "Today is Friday, you fiend."
"Oh, is it, now?" Roger looked at his wrist as if he was wearing a watch. "Well then, I guess it is."
Thalia finished packing the suitcase around the time Roger was done getting ready for the day.
"Thalia, love, you might want to wash your hands after touching all of my clothes. Just a warning." Roger said as he gently placed his arm around The girl's shoulders.
Thalia looked down at her hands and scurried to the bathroom.
With that, they all packed into the van. By this time Freddie was in the driver's seat.
"Let's roll," Freddie said as he stepped on the gas. The van lurched forward and everyone grabbed on to the seats.
"Who let Freddie drive?" John asked.
The crew all shrugged as Freddie made sharp turns and blew through stop signs.
"Well, at least it's not Roger..." Brian shuddered.
"I'm sure Roger can't be worse at driving than this," Thalia said as Freddie made a sharp right and her head smacked into the window.
"No, he's an amazing driver. He just takes driving too far, speaks... inappropriately to his car, as if it was a girl. He talks about pumping pistons and grease guns-"
"ITS A METAPHOR BRIAN!" Roger shouted from the passenger seat.
Freddie swerved the car, started by Roger's sudden outburst. Scared for their lives, all of the passengers stayed quiet so Freddie could focus on driving. After a while, Roger started humming a little tune he had come up with.
Thalia could foresee that the next month would be very interesting.
