Thalia enjoyed the play. She didn't really understand everything that happened, but she enjoyed it nonetheless. John didn't understand some parts of it either. He only had a good time because he was with Thalia.
The four of them discussed the specifics of the show on their way back to John and Roger's apartment. Freddie was diving deep into the symbolism as Brian nodded along. In between each of Freddie's statements, Brian would comment on how well the actors pulled each part off.
"I almost nodded off a couple of times, to be completely honest," John chimed in.
Freddie shook his head. "I don't know how anyone could have fallen asleep. I was on the edge of my seat all night."
"Me too," Brian chimed in. "How anyone could be bored of Shakespeare truly perplexes me."
John and Thalia looked at each other.
When the group arrived back home, they walked in to see Roger sitting on the couch drinking a beer and looking off into space.
"Hey guys," He said. "How was it."
"Eh, you didn't really miss much," John said.
"I take it your date didn't go well?" Thalia asked Roger, butting into the conversation.
Roger sighed. "No, but there's plenty of fish in the sea, you know?"
Thalia patted his forearm softly and followed John into the kitchen.
"I feel terrible for Roger," Thalia said in a hushed voice.
"He'll get over it," John said with a shrug. "He always does."
Thalia stayed quiet as John grabbed a couple of beers for him, the boys, and Thalia.
They all sat in the living room drinking their beers, with Roger dampening the mood with his gloominess. Thalia sipped hers slowly and wasn't too fond of the taste, but didn't want to stand out by not partaking in the drinking.
"So... how did you all meet?" Thalia asked, in attempt to lighten the mood.
Brian spoke up first. "Roger were in a band together in college and after our lead singer quit we met Freddie."
"After I joined, we still needed a bass player," Freddie continued. "So, we got John."
Roger, who was already tipsy from drinking earlier, started to laugh. "Yeah, Deaky's the baby of our lot."
Everyone else started to laugh, not as hard as Roger because it wasn't really that funny, they just wanted to make him feel better. After that, Roger perked up a little bit more. Throughout the conversation, he casually flirted with Thalia, forgetting the fact that she was only there for John, who gave Roger a series of glances each time he said anything to her. Over the course of the night, Roger's sour mood completely vanished and Thalia became well aquatinted with the boys. By the time Thalia and started feeling tired it was half-past twelve.
"Oh, shoot! I can't believe it's already so late," she exclaimed. "I should probably get going."
John offered to walk her home.
"It was nice meeting all of you," Thalia said to the boys, getting various, slightly drunken, responses from each of them all at once. John and Thalia left.
"I think it's cute that they call you Deaky," Thalia brought up. "Nicknames are always fun."
John chuckled. "I suppose they are."
Upon arriving at Thalia's apartment they said their goodbyes. John leaned in again, this time giving her a kiss on the lips.
