11. 𖣘 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𖣘

(Maily's POV)

Suddenly it became silent. I felt myself lying on the ground, my eyes closed and I couldn't move because someone was lying on me.

"Ah..Get..off.. of..me..I cant bre-ath",- I said with difficulty, and suddenly I felt lightweight and stood up from the ground breathing deeply.

"Oh sorry",- I heard a familiar voice apologizing and turned to face Edmund behind me, who was scratching his head.

I looked around me...We were buried in the snow.

"Edmund!",- I heard Lucy,- "Narnian's is everyone okay?",- she helped all the warriors to their feet and Edmund did the same. I stood up and joined them. Everyone was fine besides one, it was Jennifer, she was frozen, her skin was so cold, she couldn't move. I saw Edmund ran to her as soon as he saw her, of course...she is her future wife.

"We need to reach to Caspian's Castle, she'll be cured there",-said Eustas placing his hand on Edmund's shoulder.

Edmund lifted Jennifer in his arms and it hurt me inside so bad... I know it was the right thing to do, she had to be cured and he had to take care of her...But I couldn't help that feeling inside me, that was a mixture of sadness and anger but at the same time I felt so sorry about her. A male voice interrupted me from my thoughts.

"I'm not sure where we are now... The snow hid everything, all the ways... I'm not sure how to reach to Caspian's Castle",- it was Eustace's voice.

"I don't care Eustace, we need to find the way whatever it takes",- said Edmund looking at Jennifer with fear in his eyes.

I wasn't sure about what the feeling inside me was, but I couldn't see him like that, I ran closer and put my hand on his shoulder...he didn't look at me.

"Sh-She'll be fine...",-I tried my best not to act angry and to say something that would comfort him somehow.

*He kept looking at her and I felt so dumb..."Why should this happen to me? Why is he acting like this, he invites me to a dance, kisses me and now... he doesn't even look at me... Why on earth have I decided to comfort him..." Thoughts rushed into my head, it was silent as everyone looked at us, I looked such a fool...suddenly... two beautiful, sparkling, lovely, dark brown eyes were looking at me.

"Edmund...",- I barely whispered, my voice hardly audible as I saw sadness in his eyes.

"Yeah, she will... she will be fine...",- he said his voice was shaking and quiet, but then he turned to the others,-" We have to reach Caspian's Castle as soon as possible!",- he announced.

"Edmund, we don't know how, it's impossible to navigate here",-said Lucy and another male voice ring out from behind her.

"I can lead you to Caspian, I used to visit him very often",- said the boy.

I saw Lucy turn around and face him... I recognized him, it was the boy I bumped into lately, actually I didn't know who he was.

(Lucy's POV)

I was still confused by the relations between Edmund and Maily.. Maily looked quite upset, and they were here together when we ran... But these thoughts went away from my mind as I heard already a familiar voice behind me, as I turned around I saw the guy who saved my life earlier. He looked at me which made me blush.

"Y-You? Ah..Who are you?",-I asked him as I knew nothing about him...and no one does.

"My name is Gail my Lady",- he bowed to me respectfully,-"I'm a friend of Caspian as our families are close",- he said.

"Families? Where are you from? Are you Narnian?",- asked Eustace.

"I'm half Narnian half Raisadanian, my mother's from Raisadan, Queen Marabella",- he said looking at my eyes and that made me feel shy, he was the first boy who got interested in me.

"So.. You're Prince Gail?",- I said playfully and he smiled.. yes he smiled.. he had a beautiful smile, then he shyly looked down.

"Ehm..Well, yeah I'm the Prince of Raisadan. It's a small part of Narnia",he said smiling and proud of himself,- "I know this place very well, I can lead you",- he said confident.

"Why should we trust you?",- asked Eustace.

"Eustace-!",- whispered Lucy angrily.

"We don't have much time",- Edmund's voice sounded nervous as he turned to Gail and nodded,-"Lead us, I trust you!",- he said and I smiled at him.

They hit the road, some of them were walking while others rode horses but they couldn't ride faster because of the snow. They were on the road for almost two hours, they rode through the storm and the cold wind touched their faces. Everyone was tired and it was already getting darker.

(Maily's POV)

It was like an eternity... I thought the road was never going to end... Like we will never see anything besides snow. I froze, I couldn't feel my feet anymore, and my hands were red and my face was burning from the cold wind. All I wanted at that moment was a cup of tea and a warm blanket and... I wanted someone to hug me...as Edmund did with Jennifer... As I thought about him he rode closer to me.

"Maily?",-he called,-"How are you?"

I was feeling so sad inside, but every single attention he gave to me made me warm inside.

"Fine...ahm....I, I am so tired, I just wish...",- I didn't finish my sentence.

"What do you wish for?",- he asked.

"I wish... warmth... I want to feel warm inside, and I wish I was home now... fantasizing myself being a hero, dreaming about the things I will never achieve. I wish I had never come back",- I said, cold tears running from my eyes.

"Why do you say so-",- he tried to say something but I cut his speech.

"Because that's what it is Edmund! Because I was happy till I came here! Because I thought... I thought I will find happiness here, that I'll become a hero, and that I'll have the most beautiful life here in my hometown...but...",- more tears fell from my eyes and ran to my cheek,- I-I... All I felt was numb... Cause that's what it is!!!",- I screamed at him, so badly... He was shocked... but I felt too bad just for pretending that I'm alright and smiled in a fake way. I noticed Lucy and some others stare at us.

"Maily...",-he mumbled but I didn't want to hear anything.

"Don't!",- I said, turning my face away from him and rode ahead a bit faster to stay alone for a while.

I had so much anger in me against him and I couldn't understand why... Maybe I wasn't right.. there was sadness in his eyes, but.. I couldn't keep emotions inside although I've tried.

Thoughts filled my mind and tears were still falling from my eyes, I could feel my vision blurring and something running against me.

"Maily, careful!",- a voice sounded in my ears so quiet... But it made me concentrate myself on what was going on... suddenly I fell from the horse landing on the cold snow.. it hurts... my vision blurred... darkness in front of me...

The next thing I remember was that I opened my eyes and saw all the Narnians sitting on the ground with their arms and legs bound.

I couldn't move as I was tied to a tree and Lucy and Edmund too. We were captive!
