It was dark, I could notice some of the warriors on the ground were asleep, their skin was pale, it looked like they were enchanted. I tried to get rid of the rope and get free, but all my attempts were meaningless. That was when I heard someone behind.
"Who's that?",-he asked and I recognized Edmund's voice.
"E-Edmund..It's Maily",- it was so hard for me to speak, my head was spinning around and I felt so weak.
"Maily, are you tied to the same tree as I am?",-he asked and tried to walk from behind the tree closer to me.
"What? You too?",- I asked and turned my head to the right as he was now standing next to me, our eyes locked for a moment and I calmly looked down avoiding another deep contact with his eyes,- "What happened?",- I asked confused about why were we tied to the tree, I turned my look to the Narnians that were lying on the ground,- "What happened to all the warriors. Why can't I remember anything?",- I asked facing Edmund again.
He simply looked at me. I was increasingly embarrassed by his manner of watching me. I couldn't take my eyes off him, it felt like..
..while I was looking at him he was looking through me, the pain was still filled in his eyes, I knew that pain... It was because of me.
"We were attacked",- his voice ringed in my ears which made me concentrate myself on the situation,-"It was well planned, like the enemy knew we were going to ride this way. I'm sure it was not an accident",- he continued.
"Not an accident? You mean..Wait but, what about the Narnians? They don't look like they are sleeping. And why can't I remember anything?",- I asked worried.
"You fell from the horse and hit your head. There was another snow-army but this time there were some human between them...some soldiers",-he said nervous and looked down,- "There was a man who was acting like the Ruler of the army, I'm not sure if he was a human being or some creature",- he said and my eyes widened.
"You mean, you know who is to blame for all this?",- I asked and I was immediately interrupted by Edmund.
"No..I didn't see his face, but I guess it may be the one to blame. I'm not sure of what exactly they did with the Narnians but they look enchanted",- he said and I nodded at his words.
Suddenly Edmund's face turned more sad.
"Maily.",- he called my name , his eyes still looking down,- "Remember you told me about the prophecy?...which was about me getting married?",-he changed the subject.
"Yes",- I answered looking at him.
"At first I was really indifferent to that occasion. Then.. I saw Jennifer and I thought that is a sign..",- he said and I shook a bit,- "At the beginning of this school year, I was sitting on a bench in the courtyard of our school. I was holding the Royal Ring that Caspian gave to me as a memory of Narnia. The bell rang and I got up from the bench...,- he smirked a bit,- as I did that a girl bumped into me, and we both landed on the ground. It was Jenny, after that she began to look for excuses to talk to me, and finally she got my attention. As long as I knew I wasn't going to visit Narnia again, I thought it was time to move on in real life, which was supposed to be my future. We talked a lot about ourselves and she asked me to be her prom partner",- it looked like he finished his little story as he stopped talking for a minute, it was silent now.
"Why are you telling me that?",- I asked, trying my best to stay calm after his words.
"Then...I saw you",- he said and raised his head looking at me again.
"Edmund..Stop it",- I said laughing a bit nervously..he grinned.
"I like your character, your craziness, your kindness, your honesty, your ability to make me feel comfortable in every situation",- he was looking at me saying these words and I thought he was going crazy.
