1. The Half Bad series by Sally Green
I decided to start with my all time favorite book series. The Half Bad series consists of three books. If you love books about witches and magic this series is perfect for you. This series both made and broke me.
Description: Sixteen-year-old Nathan lives in a cage: beaten, shackled, trained to kill. In a modern-day England where two warring factions of witches live amongst humans, Nathan is an abomination, the illegitimate son of the world's most terrifying and violent witch, Marcus. Nathan's only hope for survival is to escape his captors, track down Marcus, and receive the three gifts that will bring him into his own magical powers—before it's too late. But how can Nathan find his father when there is no one safe to trust, not even family, not even the girl he loves?
2. All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
Do you love extremely sad, romantic books? I know I do and this book was perfect for just that. All The Bright Places was not one of those over the top unrealistic love stories and I fell in love with it in the first three pages. Plus its movie is coming out this year, lets pray they don't destroy the story. This is by far my favorite stand alone book.
Description: Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him. Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister's recent death. When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it's unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the 'natural wonders' of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It's only with Violet that Finch can be himself - a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who's not such a freak after all. And it's only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet's world grows, Finch's begins to shrink. How far will Violet go to save the boy she has come to love?
3. A dogs purpose by W. Bruce Cameron
This book was just the sweetest thing I've ever read about a dog who keeps being reincarnated. It was humorous and loving, the perfect bog for a dog lover.
Description: Surprised to find himself reborn as a rambunctious golden haired puppy after a tragically short life as a stray mutt, Bailey's search for his new life's meaning leads him into the loving arms of 8 year old Ethan. During their countless adventures Bailey joyously discovers how to be a good dog. But this life as a beloved family pet is not the end of Bailey's journey. Reborn as a puppy yet again, Bailey wonders, will he ever find his purpose?
4. Shiver the whole night through by Darragh McManus
From page one this book instantly digs its claws into you and holds you until the very last page. If you enjoy curling up with a chilling and mysterouis book in your hands, this is definitely the one.
Description: After months of misery and feeling ready to end it all, Aidan Flood wakes up one morning to find that local beauty and town sweetheart Slaine McAuley has done just that. Aidan suddenly discovers a new sense of purpose and becomes determined to find out what happened to her. The town is happy to put it down to suicide, but then one night Aidan gets a message, scratched in ice on his bedroom window: 'I didn't kill myself.' Who is contacting him? And if Slaine didn't end her own life ... who did?
5. Halo By Alexandra Adornetto
When I first started reading this book I was preparing myself to be bombarded with cliques. However, well there is a lot of cliques, Adornetto still managed to bring in the element of surprise and wonder. This story about angels and love is one to be read over and over again.
Description: Three angels – Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human – are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments.
Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them. Gabriel and Ivy do everything in their power to intervene, but the bond between Xavier and Bethany seems too strong.
The angel's mission is urgent, and dark forces are threatening. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?
