11 ; coco cay, bahamas

july 9th

today was off to a terrible start, well kinda. i woke up and had ten minutes to get ready for coco cay, bahamas. finally we gathered up the family and we're on a smaller boat to the private island. i took pictures of the clear blue water and palm trees, it was absolutely beautiful.

we docked & exited the small boat. i admired the island, there were shops, hair braiding stations, food stands, bars all as we took our first steps onto the island. my cousins pointed at shops and things they wanted to go see.

"let's go get chairs at the beach then all do our own things but re-group there?" brian asked

we all agreed and made our way to the water

i put my stuff down on a lounge chair next to my brother and brittany

i took off my top and shorts, reveling my favorite bathing suit. then i took out my sunglasses and put them on. i grabbed my wallet.

"let's go get drinks" i told brittany

she grabbed her wallet and we walked to the bar

"the drinking age is 18 and you have your fake so i don't even have to buy it for you" brittany said

my eyes lit up, for the whole day i can order my own drinks!

we approached the bar

the bartender asked what we wanted and for our id's

"a coco loco"

"same"

he nodded and started to make our drinks

the coco loco came in a cute blue cup and tasted strong but also like coconuts

we made our way back to the beach and the rest of our family were tanning or in the water. brittany and i took some cute photos in the clear blue water and also swam for a bit. after a while some of the group split up.

"i'm gonna walk around and try finding some friends, i'll be back" i told brittany

she nodded and continued tanning

my first stop was the bar, i ordered a shot of fireball and another coco loco. as i walked to the bathroom i felt tipsy. i looked around at the sun and palm trees, then down at my body in my new swimsuit. in this moment i really felt like i was living my best life.

i entered the bathroom and heard familiar voices

"joslyn?" i said aloud

she ran out from the stall then rebecca from another

"octavia!" they said at the same time

i was relieved that i found them

"access to the bar i see" rebecca said

"yes"

"grayson is excited about it too" joslyn said

"let's go to the shops, i saw cool stuff" i said and they agreed

we walked around the outdoor shops. in the back there were tiny bowls and pipes that said 'coco cay'. rebecca and i gave each other the look. we picked out cute ones and looked around for a guy running the shop. nobody was around.

"well nobody's here, i guess it's free" rebecca said

we all laughed

"no but really let's go" i laughed

we put them in the side of our bathing suit tops and left the area.

"i can't believe we just did that" rebecca said

"oh well i'll be outta here in a few hours and they will never see me again" we laughed

we sat at one of the many bars

"3 shots of fireball" i asked the bartender and he started pouring them

we cheered each other and snapped a video of us taking the shots. we stayed for a while and did a few rounds. we all were successfully on the verge of drunk so we decided to take a break from drinking. we walked for a while until i spotted the braiding station.

"i've always wanted to get the side of my head braided like that, let's go!" i grabbed their arms and pulled them

rebecca and i sat together while the ladies braided our hair. it was going to look so cute, i couldn't wait.

once they were almost done, grayson came around the corner from the shops and spotted us.

"hey guys" he approached us

"hey" we all responded

"can we go to the bar again!" joslyn asked

"you guys went without me!" grayson complained

"everyone calm down we will go after this!" i laughed

rebecca and i payed for our hair and took cute pictures. grayson and joslyn jumped in a few of them.

we all sat at the bar next to the beach and took 2 rounds of shots and each got 2 spiked shirley temples. we were non stop laughing, talking, and enjoying each other's company.

i looked out to the beach and saw the bouncy blow ups in the water. i've always seen them in youtube videos or movies and my mind tells me i need to go play on it.

"can we please go play on those" i pointed out to the water

"say less" grayson said

"let's go" rebecca agreed

we ran out to the water and started swimming to the blow ups. it took a while but once we were playing and jumping into the water, it was worth it.

grayson and i climbed up to the top of the blow up mountain. i looked down.

grayson reached his hand out and i held it

we looked at each other then jumped

i closed my eyes as my body emerged underwater

i came up and took a deep breath

i looked at everyone around me laughing and i thought to myself it doesn't get better then this
