Micah

I awake to the sound of my phone buzzing next to me. I sit up and slip my glasses over my face before looking at the screen.

Theo
Good morning, sunshine.

I smile, and I can almost hear his voice whispering into my ears.

He texts again.

Theo
Wake up sleepyhead, we have school. I can't go another day without you, so you're not skipping.

I can't help but giggle.

Micah
Or am I?

He replies almost instantly.

Theo
Um... you get your ass out of that bed and get dressed. See ya in a few ;)

I know I don't really have a choice at this point, so I get out of bed. Looking in my closet, I see a white crew neck that's calling my name. I grab it and throw it on over my exposed chest. I pull out a pair of blue jeans and slip them on over a fresh pair of boxers.

Once I'm dressed and my teeth are brushed, I rush down the stairs, hoping I don't catch my parents.

I see my dad's figure standing in the kitchen, and I rush for the front door before he can see me.

I get to my car and begin the trip to school.

I'm early to homeroom, as usual, so when I get to my seat I lay my head down. I had yet another restless sleep last night, so I decide to catch a few before school starts.

As I begin to doze off, I feel someone tap on my shoulder, frightening me. I jump up, but I realize it's only Theo. The guy I saw yesterday trails behind me, and a bubble of jealousy floats inside my chest. I shouldn't be jealous, it's not like we're a thing.

"Good morning," he greets me.

"Good morning," I say back. I'm smiling, though I can still see the boy standing next to Theo. He looks at the two of us with a smirk.

"So, are y'all fucking?"

Theo suddenly spins around and slaps the boy right across his pale cheek. Soon, the imprint of his hand shines on his face. The boy rubs his cheek, and a look of melodramatic sorrow washes over his face.

"Shut up, Isaac!" Theo yells. Thank God the teacher isn't here yet.

The boy, Isaac, sinks down into the seat behind him. He looks up at Theo and his smirk only grows.

"I'm assuming that's a yes," he says as his eyebrows lift up in amusement.

Theo growls and slaps him even harder. "I said, shut the hell up!"

I can't help but giggle. He's so cute when he's angry.

He lifts his hand up to slap Isaac again, but I reach for his shoulder and pull him back.

"Calm down Theo," I laugh," he's just messing around."

Isaac looks at Theo playfully. "Yeah Theo, I'm just messin' around."

Theo sighs and sits down in his seat.

"Whatever," he says, rolling his eyes.

The bell rings, and Mr. Phillips walks into class.

"Good mornings students," he says as he walks to the board, "I'd like to remind you all about your project that is due in a week. You should at least be half way done with it."

Shit. I haven't thought about the project since... we started it.

I look at Theo, who is staring off into space. I snap at him, and he flinches.

Laughing, I start to tease him.

"Aww, did I scare you?"

His face turns bright red. "You wish you did," he smiles.

I press my fingertip to his cheek.

"You know you got scared."

He sticks is tongue out at me.

I roll my eyes playfully. "Wow, real mature."

We both laugh until we receive an annoyed look from Mr. Phillips. Once we stop talking, he continues with his lesson.

After class, Theo and I walk through the hallway together. Isaac trails behind us.

"S-so," I say, nervous to ask Theo to come over to my house. "Do you wanna come over tonight? T-to work on the p-project?"

His hand brushes against my own, and I feel my heart flutter within my chest.

"Sure, what time?"

"Um.. How about five?"

He grins. "It's a date."

My heart nearly leaps from my chest at the word date. I know it's not really a date, but part of me hopes it would be.

"By the way," Theo says, "you're cute when you're nervous."

He tucks a few out-of-place strands of my long hair behind my ear before walking off to his next class.
