________

It had been a month since you celebrated your two year anniversary. It had been the last weekend of tour and you couldn't have imagined a better anniversary. The boys had played possibly one of their best shows yet and everyone's mood was through the roof. After the show Calum and you had a late night date planned at a really nice place that was a mix between a restaurant and a fancy bar. The atmosphere was amazing and you enjoyed each other's presence all night long. You didn't get back to the hotel until really late that night. You had sat outside in a quiet part of the terrace that was attached to the restaurant. There had been fairy lights and such everywhere, small cozy places for people to hang out scattered around the place. You had agreed that you wouldn't buy each other a present, because you both agreed that having each other was enough. Still you had gotten a small present knowing Calum wouldn't hold his word anyway. Your head had been laying on his shoulder when he searched around in his pocket and pulled out a small box. For a second your mind was racing, it was a jewelry box that was for sure but the content made you nervous.

It was a small golden necklace with a rose as a pendant. It had the date that you first met almost nine years ago engraved in the back, it was absolutely stunning.

Now a month later you were laying in his arms playing with that pendant. The rain was hitting the big windows in front of you two and it made you feel at ease. Rain had always felt calming to you, listening to it made you fall asleep when you couldn't otherwise. Calum was playing with your hair and you sighed happily. There was no need for talking and so you two stayed like that for a while.

The room lit up when a lightning bolt cut through the sky. You jumped a little and immediately Calum's arm tightened around you. You moved a little closer to his chest and intertwined your hands. "I love you Calum", you closed your eyes and heard the thunder rumble. "I love you too Y/N", he whispered and kissed your head. It was quiet for a while between you two again, only the thunder rumbling in the distance.

"Cal...I can't believe it has been two years.", the last two years of your life had been better than you could have ever imagined. Sure there were times where you fought but usually it was only about small things and even if not you always worked through it. Never in those two years had you felt like your love for each other changed. "It went by so quick", he muttered back and took a moment before continuing, " the only thing I regret is not admitting my feelings earlier." You only let out a little 'hmh' because neither nodding nor shaking your head felt right. You weren't sure if getting together before that would have been the right thing to do, your relationship was going so well now and maybe it wouldn't have worked out this way if both of you weren't sure from the beginning. But now everything felt right and there was this feeling deep down inside you that you couldn't explain. Sometimes when you looked at Calum you felt a warm rush of happiness run through you and in your mind you were sure that you would be with him for a long long while.

Another lightning bolt lit up the room and this time you felt him jump a little. "Calum, have you thought about the future? You know tour is over now and...", you squeezed his hand and tried to look up at him. He thought about it for a while and when he spoke up it was in a quiet tone. "To be honest not really. I know that we are going to take time to write a new album, similar to this time. You know not to burn ourselves out. Which would mean that I will be here so much more, we would finally really live together", his voice got more excited the more he talked. You had moved to LA around a year and a half ago, you moved into Calum's place. Most of the time there you were alone with Duke, it made you feel less alone at least. Whenever Calum was there it felt like it was actually your home and not just the place you were living at. You nodded happily and let him continue. "Otherwise I don't really know. I guess I will just kind of let it come at me.", he shifted a little and loosened his arms around you. "Well I spoke to your sister last week and she asked me if you wanted to visit them soon", you sat back up and turned to look at Calum. Before you could continue he interrupted you, "We, we will visit then not just me. I can't wait to show you around London for a bit. I loved living there.", his eyes lit up and he could barely contain his excitement. You giggled seeing him like that, almost like a little kid waiting to open his presents. "Guess I will be telling her that we would gladly come over there", you smiled at him widely.

You continued to talk about pointless things for a while. When you looked up at him again he smiled at you and there it was again, that feeling you had thought about before. A wave of warmth went through you and a huge smile was plastered on your face. "Are you okay?", Calum looked at you with a concerned look and raised an eyebrow. "More than okay", you were laying on the couch again with your head resting in Calum's lap. "I don't know but sometimes when I look at you all I can see is... This sounds so stupid. But all I can think about is us being together for a long time.", you felt your cheeks warm up and were glad that it was relatively dark in the room. "You're cute when you're embarrassed.", he chuckled and pushed a strand of hair out of your face, "But you really don't need to be embarrassed about it because I feel the same way. We have been friends for nine years and I plan on making it a lot longer." Your smile grew even wider and remained there for the rest of the night.

A few weeks later you were sitting in Mali's living room. She had a couple of friends over, people Calum knew but hadn't seen in a while. Everyone was catching up and you were sitting back a little enjoying him being this happy. You were introduced to a lot of people that day and it almost felt overwhelming. For a while you sat next to a girl who was there with her little daughter. Calum was playing with her on the floor while talking to other people. Your heart jumped and you couldn't help but smile. "Cute right? ", Mali slid on the couch next to you and leaned back. "Incredibly", you nodded and that smile on your face got even dumber. "Oh oh, I know that face", Mali poked your cheek and sat up, "She got baby fever." Your jaw dropped a little and you shook your head vehemently. "No I don't", your voice sounded defensive and you might have said it a little louder than you wanted to. Calum's head turned around and he looked at you and raised an eyebrow. "I don't", you mumbled through gritted teeth and turned to her. She stood back up and walked towards her kitchen but not without whispering a 'You do' in your ear and laughing.

You didn't speak about it anymore for the rest of the day. The next few days were spent exploring London with Calum and his sister. Since he had lived there before he could show you things you didn't expect to see. It was more than just the typical tourist places and you enjoyed your vacation thoroughly. It was the first time you and Calum explored a city without having to be back for a show and thus only having a limited amount of hours. In a week they would start the writing process for the new album and so he tried to take in as many inspirations as possible.

It had been a long day and when you finally let yourself fall on the bed you sighed deeply. You felt pretty exhausted but happy at the same time. It was your last day exploring because the next day you would have to catch a flight back to LA at around noon. Calum layed down next to you and yawned, "Cuddly night in?". You nodded and rolled on your side so that you could see him. "Pizza delivery?", you blinked your eyes and shot him a sweet smile. He nodded and pulled out his phone to order pizza.

When the pizza arrived you were sitting on the bed sharing it. You had the TV on in the background but it was mostly ignored by you two. There were only a few pieces left over when Calum suddenly looked up. "I just remembered something. I wanted to ask you this a coupled of days ago.", he took another bite and took his time to chew it. You raised an eyebrow and tried to figure out what he was talking about. "When we were at Mali's, what were you two I don't know discussing? You seemed upset", he finished his slice of pizza and you choked on yours. You knew what he was talking about and frankly you were embarrassed. You coughed a little and tried to form an answer. "I...we. Well you were playing with that child right?, you tried to avoid eye contact but saw him nod in the corner of your eye. " Well your sister asked me if thought it was cute and obviously I said yes. I then didn't want to admit that I had baby fever but like maybe I did" , you shrugged and your cheeks turned pink. Calum smirked at you and closed the now empty pizza box, kicking it off the bed in one motion. "Baby fever huh?", he grinned at you and moved closer to you. "So that's what you meant with future last time we talked about it?", he placed a hand on your knee and it made your cheeks get even warmer. "Not directly", you sounded a little defensive but weren't even sure if you believed yourself.

"Well let me put a ring on that first and then we will see", he smirked at you again and kissed your cheek.
