Silence.

That's what (Y/N) had always heard for the longest time; expect when one of the Operatives came to check on her.

(Y/N) had been very unlucky. A small bit of the infection had made its way to them, and they were thrown into a cell to be a test subject, much like the rest of the unlucky ones. When it had first happened, [OPERATIVE] Emotionless would check up on her more often than the rest of the test subjects.

After inquiry, he had stated that she was not as infected as the rest. He provided no further explanation.

(Y/N) was still left with many questions. And it stayed that way for nearly a year.

Release: Chapter One

My stomach is hurting again. It's probably because I haven't been fed. None of the Operatives have come down to see me for nearly a week!

They started to stop caring about me after they started my new treatment. I overheard them once; they said that it was the last test before "taking further action." I had, and still have, no idea to what that could mean. My first guess was my death. I really don't want to die, but there is no other way.

I just want to taste the fresh air one last time before I die. Even if it's just for a second. But, even so, I need to stay positive.

~***~

I am drawing with a rock I found in the corner of my cell. Whenever I scratch the cement floor with it, it leaves behind a white mark.

I loved to draw before my inprisonment. But, once my face was infected, which later spread to half my torso, it was hard for me to see.

When I was thrown down here, Emotionless wrapped my face up in bandages, leaving only slits for my eyes, nose, and mouth. By then, my eyesight had adjusted. Though, it seemed to get better each day. Maybe my face has been healing? I mean, I wouldn't know, there are no mirrors nor glass, or anything I could see my reflection in.

I had managed to sketch out a scene from the underground level. The sun was shining, and you could see the unlit lamplights and the green trees standing tall right outside the fence.

It was my favorite view. I am suprised I managed to remember it so clearly.

Click, click, click.

Footsteps. Finally! It is probably [OPERATIVE] Emotionless coming to bring me food. I have been feling so weak and drained!

When he approaches my cell, I realize he has no food.

"Come on, (Y/N)," He presses the green button loacted on my cell door. "You are cured. It's time for you to go." He says, bluntly.

"What?!" I shoot up from my hunch-back position in the corner. "My face is still infected!"

His grey mask shields his face, but I can hear him breathe. "All will be answered in due time. But, you will no longer be a victim to our testing." He holds out a clothed hand.

Hesitantly, I take it, and he leads me through the hallway, and into the laboratoy.

The white walls blind me. I haven't seen anything so bright in such a long time!

I see some of the Operatives there, waiting for me.

Emotionless releases me, and he slides off his mask. "We are beyond excited to inform you that you have been cured."

My eyes widen from behind the white bandages. "Really? You mean it! I don't know what to say...I'm so happy!"

Benevolent steps forward, a nervous smile making its way up to his face. "Let's see how her apperance has changed!"

Emotionless nods, and he pulls a chair out for me, gesturing for me take a seat.

Once I do, I feel him fiddle with the bandanges from behind. Finally, I feel the white bandages being unraveled.

I can finally see fully now. The light floods into my eyes, and I wince.

I open my eyes, and the Operatives look astonished, and their faces are dusted with a color matching their outfits.

"Uhm...what-what's wrong?" I become scared, looking around for a mirror.

[OPERATIVE] Radiant reaches into the top pocket of his brown vest. He pulls out a pocket mirror and hands it to me.

"Do I... look bad? Scary?" I take it, lifting the top open to my face.

I can't believe it. It had transformed into the beauty I had always wanted before!

I touch my face. "This...this can't be real, can't it?" I laugh, standing from my seat with tears in my eyes. "Tell me I'm dreaming!"

Radiant smiles. "No, dear, it is no dream." He smiles, taking the pocket mirror back from me.

"What happens now...?" I say, rambling all the different possiblities through my head.

"We still have to decide that," Says Emotionless from behind me. "For now, I will have [OPERATIVE] Radiant keep you busy."

Radiant smiles happily. "Come on now, let's go get you cleaned up!"
