Chapter 12- Talent show

I wake up to my alarm beeping none stop, I look over and realise what day it is " today's the talent show" I say smiling, for some reason Ryder makes me happy about performing with him it's like maybe when we are up on stage things feel real, like we don't need to fake anything anymore , what am I even saying me and Ryder are only friends. I shake my head and just get dressed

I walk down the stairs to see Rick on the phone " yes I know what happened June... I didn't tell you because I knew hat would happen when I did ... yes I know I was wrong for hiding it from you but who would want to be with someone who's parents were murdered on the sidewalk ?? It's just not something I like talking about" Rick says before turning around, he looks at me and just stops talking while I'm standing here in shock of how he was speaking about mum and dad

"How can you just speak about them in that way Rick?" I ask and he shakes his head " Scar" Rick says and I shake my head and just leave, once I get to Ryder's house I honk and just sit thinking, I look up to the rear mirror and I can see that day all over again, the at the guy shot my mum and dad with not remorse as if they weren't even people. I hear a Knock on the window causing me to jump in my seat "is everything okay Scar?" Ryder asks and I nod "yeah we should just get to school we have a lot to prepare for" I say giving him a small smile

After school I walk out my car to see Ryder speaking and laughing away with some girl and for some reason I feel a slight bit of anger flush over me, I quickly walk over to them "hey babe ready to go?" I ask Ryder who frowns at my sudden burst " yeah, I'll see you around Kim" Ryder says before the girl walks away "everything okay?" Ryder asks and I nod " you don't usually have any weird bursts when I speak to other girls" Ryder says "honestly I have no idea" I say and he nods

We get into my car and I look over to him, he just looks so much more attractive and he looks so beautiful, shut up Scarlet you got no idea about what you are talking about "You've been weird today, what's wrong ?" Ryder asks and I sigh " I heard Rick speaking to someone this morning and when he spoke about mum and dad he said who would want to be someone who's parents got murdered on the sidewalk, ever since I heard that I've been getting flashbacks of that day and today you've been the only one that I am able to properly speak to so when I saw u laughing with Kim I got a little angry?" I say and Ryder opens his arms

"Scar you are my best friend, I'm not leaving u alone because of a random girl that by the way is never going to be as beautiful or funny as you" he says and cups my face with both his hands before he places a kiss on my forehead " come on let's go get ready for this talent show and get into that finale" Ryder says and I nod with a smile

After I dropped Ryder home I came straight home to get ready and now I'm standing in front of the mirror examining my outfit

"You look amazing jellybean" Rick says making me smile " thanks" I say quietly " you're not usually quiet" Rick says and I shrug "I'm so sorry about what I said earlier, I was angry and June, my girlfriend, she didn't know how our parents died because I never told her" Rick explains " why didn't you tell her?" I ask confused "I was scared that when she found out the truth she would walk away too, Jade did, Katie did too" Rick says and I nod " I understand, how about we out that to the side and just focus on now?" I ask and he nods before hugging me

I hear a beep outside and already know that Ryder is here to pick us up "ready?" I ask Rick who nods, we walk out to Ryder's car " hey beautiful" Ryder says and places a kiss on my cheek before opening the passenger door for me, I get in and smile "what are you guys singing today ?" Rick asks and I smile "you will see" I say and Rick smiles

We are currently waiting to be called up on stage "are you ready?" Ryder says and I nod before I see him smile down at me, he grabs my hand with his smile never fading from his face "next up Scarlet and Ryder"

Me and Ryder stop singing and smile at each other, the whole performance we spent looking into each other's eyes and holding hands and honestly it does seem like we are more of a couple than best friends which is quiet amazing really, what are you even saying Scarlet Ryder is just your best friend

We walk out of stage and Ryder hugs me " well make it to the finals" Ryder says and I nod " I know we will" I say " can I have the contestants back on stage ?" I hear the principal say, we walk up and he smiles over at us "all of you were absolutely amazing but only 2 can go up to the finals" the principal says and my heart beats fast " and those who are going to the finals are Ruby and Scarlet and Ryder" He says happily and I squeal slightly before hugging Ryder tight

We walk out of stage hand in hand "And we shall see who the winner is next Friday, have a goodnight everyone" the principal says and also walks off stage "we reached the finals huh" Ryder says and I smile "we did, we really did" I say also happy as hell " how about me you and Rick head to Nando's for a nice dinner?" Ryder suggests and I nod

After dinner Ryder drops me and Rick home " that was a very nice dinner thank you" I say and Ryder smiles " anything for you love" Ryder says and I smile bright before he kisses my forehead " I will see you soon" he says and gets in his car, it's been a very great day and I am so thankful to have both Ryder and Rick by my side.
