Mail's p.o.v.

After Light's funeral, I left right away. I didn't care to see all of the weeping. I just needed to be alone for a while. Play some Smash Bros, Assassin's Creed, Arkham Knight, the usual. Before all of that I needed to get some energy in my system after all of the all-nighters I've been doing as of late. Rebels' Cafe & Arcade seemed fitting.

I parked the car and pulled my phone out of the charger just in case someone needed to know of my whereabouts. Indie rock was playing quietly in the shop and the arcade was filled with noise. Not bad," I commented to myself looking around the place.

"Welcome," a girl with medium, purple hair waved casually. She was wearing a striped, short sleeved dress with leggings and tennis shoes. "Uh, so I take it you're a gamer?" She tilted her head with a smile. Her red framed glasses seemed to complement her eyes. "Nice goggles by the way," she added.

"Yeah, and thanks," I replied with a small laugh. "I admire your glasses as well," Was that too far? I hope she didn't take it too seriously. "I mean, they're cool,".

"I'd take it either way," she shrugged. "Is there anything you'd like?" She pointed at the menu above.

"Sure, an iced hazelnut coffee will do,"

"Okie, that'll be one fifty-nine," before she went off to make the drink she changed the music setlist to heavier, punk music and began to sing along with the lyrics.

"...When I was a young boy, my father took me into the city. To see a marching band. He says 'Son when you grow up would you be the savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned?" She then looked at me in embarrassment so I joined in.

"He said 'Will you defeat them? Your demons? And all the non-believers? The plans that they have made?" My voice was way off key but it was an indifference to her. She passed over the coffee and I thanked her again.

"My name's Alyx," She reached out her hand. "I don't have anyone to call a friend, but my mother calls me Aly," Alyx explained.

"I'm Matt," I reached out my hand to shake hers. "Do you play video games as well?" I asked referring to her first question.

"I have some knowledge," she sat on the counter next to the register. "But I hadn't got to play any games recently since I don't have the money to fix my Playstation,"

"I see," We talked for a few more hours before it was time for the shop to close. I held the door open for her and followed.

The wait for a taxi was interminable. It was also raining, but I didn't mind it. The wind was blowing softly also, which caused my hair to become wavy and a darker purple.

"You're soaked," the same friendly, red haired guy showed up beside me. He opened his umbrella like one of those cheesy things you see in Hollywood movies.

"I'm aware of that," I replied.

He rolled his eyes playfully. "Just wanted to make sure you were still in reality," A taxi finally pulled over and I grinned with the wait being done for.

"I best be going, and thanks for the cover," I chuckled lightly.

"No problem," he walked the opposite direction to his car waving.

"Where to miss?" The taxi driver asked politely.

"The Missionary Hospital," I replied in a casual voice. "My mother is ill, so I visit her on a nightly basis," I explained.
