Part 14

Noah pov

After hearing all the information from Alex, I was taken aback as I wasn't expecting any of it. I placed a hand on his shoulder and reassured him not to worry. "Get some rest," I told him. "I think I'll stay here a bit longer if that's okay," he replied. I nodded and bid him good night before making my way to Sofia's room. "Vik," I called out, and he promptly approached me. "Yes, sir?" he asked.

"I need you to do me a favor," I requested.

It has been a fortnight since we started residing at Noah's place, and it seems that Sofia is having a great time here, particularly playing with Vik. I have been working from home ever since I learned that some suspicious people have been spotted at our old residence and even at my workplace. I do not want to take any chances of being tracked, so we have been keeping a low profile.

Noah has been a great help in everything, and I am unsure of how to repay him for all that he has done. I was sitting outside with my laptop and a cup of tea when I saw Vik. "Hello," I greeted him, and he returned the gesture with a smile. "Do you require anything, sir?" he asked, to which I shook my head. "No, you have done more than enough. But you are welcome to sit with me and keep me company."

Vik seemed to ponder over it for a moment before asking, "Is that okay with you?" I nodded and said that I would appreciate his company. Vik appeared hesitant and nervous as he sat awkwardly in front of me. I chuckled, "Vik, you act so composed in front of Noah, but now you seem so awkward." His eyes widened, and he stuttered, "W-well, it is because I work for Noah. I do not know how to act in front of others."

I smiled and asked him if he and Noah had known each other for a long time. He nodded and explained that his father used to work for Noah's father, making it a generational bond. "I have never seen Noah smile this much," Vik continued. "Please stay for as long as you want." He added, but I replied that we would have to leave once everything settles down. Vik's face fell, and he muttered under his breath, "I guess that would be soon then."

Puzzled, I asked him what he meant, but he stood up and said, "I think it is best if you ask Noah." And with that, he left. Wondering what he meant, I tried to shake it off and refocus on my work.

As I took the documents, Mike asked me, "Are you sure that's all you have on him?" We were sitting in the car, and I replied, "Why would I lie? It's not like I knew or something." He sighed and stared at me. "I normally wouldn't even care, but what wouldn't I do for family," said Mike.

"You're playing with fire, Mike. I can't believe you're helping the underdogs, and they even have the nerve to call themselves a mafia," I frowned.

"Well," Mike chuckled a bit, "I mess with them because I know that I have you by my side." He really annoyed me. "Well, let's get this over with," I said. We were already at the location waiting when Mike pointed in a direction and said, "Oh, there he is."

The car stopped, and I saw two men walking out with guns, and then the boss walked out. "Look what we have here. If it isn't the legendary Noah Leon," he said with a stupid smile on his face. "Come to talk business?" he asked, and I shook my head. "No, but I came to warn you," I informed him. "I heard you're after a girl." When I said that, he looked at Mike. "Yeah, and?" he frowned. "I need you to back down," I said.

He didn't look too happy to hear that. "Why would I? You know the Mafia world. If they attack one, they attack us all," he said, and I smirked once again. "That's the thing," I threw the document on the ground. "I could take you out right here and now," I said and explained myself. "You see, the girl you're after is very important to me, and if you hurt her, I need to come after you."

He made one of his guys get the document from the ground and look at it. "Listen, you're only a little fish in this tank full of sharks. You sure don't want to be eaten, right?" I said, and he thought for a bit and let out a nervous laugh. "I can't just back down. This is important," he said, and honestly, I'm getting tired of all this.

"What would it even bring you? Killing her? James is not here, and that won't bring Lisa back," I said as he looked again at the paperwork. "If you drop it, I will not be coming after you guys anymore. Remember what you owe me?" he went quiet again. "Just drop it. You already know that you have no chance," said Mike.

"I thought you were working for me?" said the boss. "Well, Noah offered me something better," said Mike as he crossed his arms. "You can keep doing what you want," I said as I turned my back to him. "But know that the Leons will have their eyes open, looking at you and ready to attack," I turned a bit just to see his reaction. "I believe that you are not stupid enough to mess with my mafia," I said confidently and walked inside the car, and Mike did the same. "That was so cool," said Mike when he closed the door

"I had no idea she meant that much to you," Mike said with a grin.

After Alex informed me that the Mafia was after him, I had Vik track down Mike so he could assist us. I knew that Mike's stubborn nature would likely get him into trouble. "What was the guy's name again?" I asked Mike. "Sonny," he replied. I turned to Noah and asked, "Can you handle this?" He smiled and nodded, indicating that he could.

Mike looked at me and said, "I hacked into the hospital system and changed the DNA results." Without a second thought, I hit him in the back of the head. "You're such a moron!" Mike winced in pain and said, "I didn't know you knew him." I shook my head in disappointment. I thought I was done with the mafia life, but if I need to make this right, I might have to go down that road.

Sure, my dad's company was successful, but he was also a mafia boss, and that's why we had more money than we could spend. My big brother took over the family mafia, and I stayed away, wanting to get away from all of it. But right now, it seems impossible to do so.
