Catching up with reality from what they had witnessed, their mournful cries resonated and were now part of the ravaged and deteriorated landscape. Back at the campfire, the image was still vivid and hard to cope with as an anguished filled Dai and Osyrus tried to come up with a new plan of action.
"Osyrus are you okay? whispered Dai.
"Yeah sorry, just trying to figure out if what I saw was real or not." he replied while rubbing his eyes that had welled up from thinking about JinX.
"Was that what you were doing while JinX and I were struggling to stay alive? he snapped but soon came to regret it as Osyrus shamefully hung his head.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stand there like that. I just... froze after coming to a realization."
"And what was that?"
"That it was pointless to have come here." he muttered softly. "You saw that right, I mean seriously... JinX. You know he was the only one that was remotely able to fight him and now he's.. he made the ultimate sacrifice for us but why, he was the strongest of us all?" he continued, sounding more and more defeated as he went on.
"Maybe he saw something in us that we have yet to see in ourselves." Dai said with a reassuring tone.
"I'm going to continue training and finish what he started." he paused briefly while standing to his feet. "All I know is this, I'm alive for a reason and I'm not going to let him or the kingdom down. I'll prove that he did not die in vain!" Osyrus spouted with a new found sense of strength and courage.
"Well then, shall we head back?" Dai asked with a raised eyebrow, looking at him curiously.
"Yes, let us return to Faxon and give our mission status so we can prepare to make plans for our next move." he replied while helping Dai to his feet.
This was a fire that Dai had never seen before, Osyrus was always a very passive person. One that would avoid conflict at all cost. He chose not to point out that Osyrus was emitting small waves of energy when he stood a moment ago to make his declaration about training. Could this be why JinX made his sacrifice?
