Chapter 37: Elemental Fury

Cecilee finally arrived standing at the top of the stairs staring at the two demons. Naitosai, Evenharth, and Dai had their backs to the stairs not noticing her arrival.

She looked past them and saw Mikhail kneeling as Guru approached him with blood dripping from the wounds he received from Naitosai.

"Guru, don't let anything happen to Mikhail, protect him with your life!" she screamed, assuming Mikhail was safe and in good hands.

Naitosai, Dai, and Evenharth turn around as Cecilee ran up to join them.

"Mom...?" Naitosai said while caught off guard.

Cecilee looked at her son amazed, so many questions for him but now wasn't the time.

Guru with a malicious grin replied, "You got it Ceci, don't worry about a thing."

Naitosai, realizing his mother's mistake turned back to see Mikhail continuing to slowly back away from Guru. Mikhail could clearly see the demon that inhabited Guru's body. Thud! As his back hit the wall, the distance between them was closing.

Naitosai ran to his brother's aid as he yelled, "Mom no, that's not Guru, he's one of them!"

"What is going on!?" she shouted totally confused.

Dai grabbed Cecilee by her arm and pointed at the demons, "We'll explain later, right now we gotta stop them."

Evenharth tried to put it simply, "They're after Mikhail, and Krinx sent them."

Cecilee, unsure of what was going on stood with sword and shield in hand as Dai and Evenharth attempted to battle the demons, however they were both quickly disarmed. Much faster now, the demons ran to cut Naitosai's path to Guru.

The dragoon struggled with the two greater demons as Mikhail attempted to fight off Guru but he was a seasoned fighter and well beyond his own ability. Having quickly overpowered the scholar, he sent Mikhail crashing to the floor.

Full of anger and driven by the love for her youngest son, Cecilee charged, "Guru you son of a bitch, I'll have your head!"

Despite being the leader of the Steel Guard, Cecilee was neither the strongest nor the quickest of her comrades. Guru's strength and his speed were superior to that of Cecilee and it was apparent.

He riddled her body with stab wounds in strategic places to inflict the most pain. Even though she was outmatched, Cecilee with only one sword in hand continued to swing, eventually landing a few deep gashes on Guru.

Dai watched with intrigue. She's fighting solely off of instinct, not once has she given any attention to her wounds... it's almost like... she's invincible.

Evenharth jumped up and attempted to come to Cecilee's aid but was thwarted as Dai grabbed his arm.

Dai still watching the fight between Cecilee and Guru said, "You'll only get in her way."

At that moment, Naitosai still in the midst of a battle; bested one of the demons sending it flying away with a might blow.

As he saw the demon's body heading their way, Dai shouted, "Evenharth look out!"

However it was too late as the demon crashed into Evenharth, sending them both crashing through the window falling four stories.

The demon was impaled onto one of the stone swords that a statue held outside; while Evenharth resourcefully ejected a wave of water downwards to reduce the speed of his fall.

The spell-fighter landed on hands and knees in the middle of Chri, Thengol, and Llaw's war with the creations. As he looked up, several creations attempted to attack him, but Evenharth with his hands that remained touching the ground manipulated the earth and caused the land around him to rise up carrying him out of harm's way.

As the pillar continued to rise, jagged shards of stone and earth impaled the creatures within range. Evenharth now stood on top of his earthen platform looking down as he crossed his arms in front of his chest with fingers outstretched. 

As began to channel his elemental power from deep within, enraged his body began to glow, "To hell with you all!" he shouted angrily as he spread both arms outward towards the battlefield below.

Chri, Thengol and Llaw all looked up. "Who in the hell?" a puzzled Chri asked.

"One of Krinx's generals perhaps?" Llaw quickly replied.

"Oh fuck, you guys might wanna clear out!" shouted Thengol, who seemed to have already put distance between him and the others, towards the entrance of Faxon.

Chri, and Llaw quickly followed him past the creations. As they enter Faxon, Evenharth who was towered over all the creations unleashed a flurry of elemental blasts.

From his right hand, a hell storm of fire burned all creations engulfed by its flames and from his left, pulses of lightning electrocuted the creations from the inside out.

At the main entrance, Chri and Llaw look on in awe as Thengol introduced them to his comrade.

"Guys, I'd like you to meet Evenharth." he said with a proud grin, placing a hand of each other of their shoulders.
