The nurse brought me out of my sleep and I was still so drowsy that it took me a few seconds to register my mom, Derek, and Kalel around my bed looking down at me.

"Hi honey," my mom smiled, but it didn't meet her eyes. I weakly smiled back at her. She was gonna kill me no doubt.

"He will be fine," my doctor said. "We're going to release him today, so here's all the information about wound care," he handed my mom instructions. "We'll call for a follow up in a week. Do you have any questions or concerns?"

"No. Thank you Doctor. You filled me in on everything that I need to know," she beamed up at him as she held the paper to her chest.

"You're welcome. If you do find that you have any questions or concerns then you can ask the nurse, she'll be here shortly to get him ready to go," he smiled then looked at me. "No strenuous work for the next week. I don't want to see you back here unless you want to volunteer or possibly work."

I just laughed because there was no telling if I were to be back here. Things had gotten out of hand and to say I was worried would be an understatement. Only God knew what the next reason would be for my return. I just hoped it wouldn't have been my half dead body being rolled into the emergency room.

Once the doctor left the room, I was engulfed in a group hugged. A wince left my lips due to the slight pressure.

"Oh, sorry honey," my mom frowned at me as she stood up.

"It's okay," I whispered. I don't know how long I was out for, but it felt like I hadn't talked in days.

"How are you feeling?" Kalel brushed her palm against my cheek as she and Derek backed up to give me space.

I cleared my throat, "Sore, but I'll be alright."

"At least you get released today," she grinned, but it quickly went away when she noticed my sad expression.

"Yeah, but I won't be able to do a lot." Not being able to do much really pained me more than this damn bullet wound. I needed to be moving around and staying active. I hated being still or unproductive.

"That's okay, I'll take care of you," she reached for my hand to give it a light squeeze. Derek cleared his throat and I eyed him. Jealous bastard.

The nurse knocked on the door and I said a low come in before the door opened. "Hello, Mr. Bieber. Are you ready to go?"

I nodded my head so fast that I almost got dizzy. These drugs were pretty intense and even after my surgery I was still affected by them. Maybe they were the cause of my bizarre ass dream... "Yes, I'm definitely ready to get out of here."

"Alright," she grinned as she looked over the clipboard in her hands. "I'm going to need you to fill out the release papers," she handed it to my mom. "You have a change of clothes, right?"

I looked at my mom questioningly because I obviously didn't have a shirt to wear since it was all bloody. She lightly slapped her hand to her forehead and shook her head then looked back down at the paper, quickly reading it, "I forgot." Taking the pen from under the clip, she clicked it and glided it above the solid line before making it click once more and sliding it back under the clip.

The nurse chuckled as she took the clipboard from my mom and put it under her arm, "It's alright. I'll find something upstairs."

"Get him some scrubs," Kalel smiled at her.

"What? No," I objected. "I have pants and shoes to wear, I just need a clean shirt."

Kalel pouted her lips. I hated when she did that because she looked so cute and I could never turn that face down. "Why? You'll look cute."
