Life was just getting worse for Hadrian. A few weeks after the party, James and Lily had started to hit and abuse him, and Mason followed not too long after. Hadrian had been kicked, whipped, punched, cut with knives, and starved. He had become immune to the pain, but still left the Potter Manor when he was seven. He might be young, but he was notorious in the muggle city he had taken shelter in. He was already 5'6" and already had a lip piercing, and a snake tattoo on his back, accompanied with a few scars from fights with gangs, and living in alleys. No one knew of Hadrian's street life, except Neville, whom Hadrian had come to trust with his life. Not even Ginny was aware of that information, as Hadrian didn't fully trust her.  When he was eight, Hadrian also met a bushy haired muggle born named Hermione Granger, who was outcasted as a nerd with unexplainable powers.  Although they lived in pretty close proximity - only 30 miles away - Hermione also didn't know of Hadrian's life on the streets.  Hadrian was also training Hermione to be a good enough witch to keep up with the high activity the Grey Rebels would be doing.  The only reason he had decided to take her in, was because he saw her potential.  Hadrian also suspected Hermione fancied him, but brushed that off, thinking love silly and stupid.  Little did he know, once he was older, his undying love for a certain slytherin girl would drive him away from the Grey Rebels.

While on the streets, Hadrian perfected his wandless magic and elemental abilities, and also became known in knockturn alley as "Shade"

The Potter family had barely even registered our mourned their missing prodigy child.  James and Lily had both thought Hadrian had been a squib, and was glad to get that embarrassment off their back.  Plus, now they could both put all their attention on Mason.  James had also been planning to start teaching as a professor for DADA at Hogwarts the same year that Mason started Hogwarts.  Mason was getting private lessons with Dumbledore, but was only slightly advanced and had magic that was only a bit stronger than the average.  But Dumbledore claimed that Mason would get stronger during his inheritance.  The only person that truly remotely missed Hadrian, was Remus, who had been Hadrian's god father, and had actually cared for his godson.

Neville bit his lip.  In three months' time, him and his three friends would be one their own.  He wasn't concerned about survival.  He was worried about the group; he was worried about whether the group would stay together.  Hermione already disliked Hadrian, and only tolerated him because he was the one who introduced her into the group.  Ginny, outright hated him.  The red head would call him names, jeer at him, and try to get on Hadrian's nerves, but of course the insults slid off of Hadrian's back like oil on water.  Hadrian had handled worse on the streets.

Neville sighed.  It wasn't Hadrian's fault he acted cold and distant.  It was a result of Hadrian's difficult life.  Even Neville himself didn't know the full extent of Hadrian's life on the streets, and the abuse he had received before he ran away.

Ginny was in the burrow, scrambling around her room excitedly, packing a suitcase. Socks, Shirt, Pants...etc. In three months, she would be leaving with Neville, Hermione, and Hadrian to form the Grey Rebels.

Hadrian Potter

She didn't like that boy, and she definitely didn't trust him. He had sharp, defined features and long untidy black hair, that went well with his hard and cold personality. His eyes were blazing emeralds that either kept people out, or lured them to their death. Hadrian was selfish, arrogant, and only bothered to say hello to Neville. Here she was, living a neglected life, and barely being acknowledged by her family. Yet, Hadrian acts like SHE is the one that doesn't understand hardship. Like he isn't spoiled. He's the brother of the boy-who-lived; his parents probably get him anything he wants.  And when they meet, he doesn't even attempt to look remotely nice.  He should at least try to show he cares.  He's nothing but a pompous, arrogant, conceited, git who happens to be magically powerful.

Neville Longbottom on the other hand,

He had chocolate brown hair, and still had a considerable amount of baby fat, that would probably eventually fade. He contrasted a lot from Hadrian. To start, Neville was a gentleman. He opened doors for her, and smiled more often. Hadrian rarely smiled, and when he did, it wasn't real. Neville was also more empathetic with her. Neville took time to listen to her problems. Well, Hadrian also listened, but he just impersonated a stone statue, and didn't try to comfort her. Ginny would prefer Neville over Hadrian any day. The only reason she put up with the raven haired nuisance was because he was the one who started the whole group, and Neville obviously cared about him.

Hermione Granger

Hermione became Ginny's best friend.  The two girls had bonded over the year.  They were a perfect match.  While Ginny excelled in sports, and was more athletic, Hermione was book smart.

Hermione was in a small torn shack a few miles away from her house.  She sat, sipping some magic drink Hadrian had given her to help her get stronger.  Hadrian had found her about 5 months prior, malnourished and outcasted by even her parents.  At first, Hadrian had seemed cold and distant, but then after a few weeks of getting to know, which of course meant her talking and Hadrian simply being a stone wall and listening, Hadrian had revealed to her who she was.  Then, Hermione had watched with her own two eyes as Hadrian built a makeshift shack for her to live in.  In a few days, Hadrian was training was training her to be a 'warrior'.

Then, Hadrian had introduced her to the others in the group they called the Grey Rebels, Ginny and Neville.

Admittedly, Hermione had a not so small crush on Hadrian once she first met him.  Maybe it was the fact that he was the first to give her attention, and listen to her for a long time.  Maybe it was the smooth poise and calmness that always stayed with him.  Maybe it was the spark of fire she saw every once in a while hidden under the stormy grey walls of his eyes.  Maybe it was the smirk of satisfaction she would see very rarely whenever she did something right while he trained her.  Maybe it was his mysterious and bad boy aura that lured her in, in hopes that their romance would be like the cliche ones in books.  After all, he had saved her from her horrible life.  But this is Hadrian she was talking about.  He would never return her feelings, and as Hermione learned this, a seed of bitterness started to grow towards Hadrian.

Hermione was delighted to meet Ginny, who despised Hadrian, and Ginny's influence helped Hermione get over her fancying of Hadrian.
