Although it wasn't required, the Grey Rebels decided to attend classes to avoid being bored. Neville had impressed all with his extensive knowledge of plants in Herbology, and Hermione had shown off her skills in Transfiguration. In potions, Hadrian had gained immediate favoritism from Snape, with his skill in potions, but the next class would be Defense against the Dark Arts, taught by James Potter.
"Alright everyone! Because the Grey Rebels are here, we're going to be doing some dueling, and the best can duel the Grey Rebels, to see what they are against a professional." Professor Potter said, causing the whole class to talk animatedly. The class started, and kids were dueling each other with spells so elementary, they made Hadrian curl his lip in disappointment and disgust at their lack of dueling skill. Hadrian looked pleased, seeing his girlfriend Daphne defeat Tracy with a borderline dark spell he had taught her.
With all the students distracted, James walked towards the Grey Rebels, trying to seem confident, but ultimately failing as Hadrian's towering figure, and piercing glare shot him down.
"Um, my son has received special training from Dumbledore, so I was wondering if he could practice a few times with one of you?" James asked, puffing in pride that his son had special training.
"Sure, I'll do it." Hermione said, stepping forward and resolving to go easy on Mason. After all, she wouldn't want to humiliate him in front of everyone. The duel was simple, and barely intensive, and Hermione had allowed Mason to win, but Mason and James didn't seem to catch that fact. Neville and Ginny clapped quietly, slightly impressed that Mason knew more than his peers. Hadrian stood like a stone behind Neville, smirking slightly at the mediocracy of Mason's spells.
"I knew Mason could do it! Can he try to duel another one of you? Maybe Hades?" James asked hopefully. "I'm not sure about that, Hades is our best dueller." Neville said, receiving glares from Ginny and Hermione who both hated to admit that fact.
"I'm sure I can do it." Mason said arrogantly.
"Very well, if you are as good as you say, let us show the class a proper duel." Hadrian replied calmly.
Slightly nerved by Hadrian, and worried he was going to lose, Mason cried desperately, "But you have more experience, and you're older than me!"
Hadrian scoffed at that statement; they were twins, but of course Mason wouldn't know that. Hadrian was not older than Mason. In fact, Mason was three seconds older than him.
"How about this, I'll let you hit me with one spell, any spell in the beginning of the duel." Hadrian reasoned. Mason agreed to this, thinking it fair enough, and they both walked up to the dueling stage James Potter had ready.
The whole class surrounded Hadrian and Mason, staring in excitement. The Gryffindors were trading bets, and all cheered for Mason. They both shed off their outer robe, and some girls swooned at Hadrian's muscled form, causing Daphne to scowl.
"Alright, Mason. Hit me with one spell, then we shall begin." Hadrian said, sounding bored.
"Expelliarmis!" Mason cried, and a clear, glass cylinder filled with a red liquid flew towards Mason.
"What's this!" Mason yelled.
"My wand. Now let us start the duel." Hadrian replied. The two got into stance, and Mason smirked, thinking that he would win, because Hadrian was wandless.
"Stupefy!" Mason cried, and Hadrian lazily sidestepped the spell.
"Petrificus Totalus!" Mason tried, and everyone gasped to see Hadrian conjure a shield with his hand. People who could do wandless magic were rare, and powerful.
