"LIES!" James Potter yelled, standing up from the staff table, shattering the suspenseful silence that had hung moments before.
"I could swear that you were a squib when you were a baby!" James yelled defensively. Lily, sitting next to him, nodded in a agreement, sending coaxing glances towards Mason, who looked about ready to burst into a fountain of tears.
Hadrian cocked an eyebrow cooly at the outburst, then turned towards Dumbledore as the headmaster started to speak.
"Yes, my boy, when you were young, you were not only behind in magic, but also intellectually disabled. You didn't speak a word, not even let out a sound. Whenever I visited, you just stood against the wall, staring at us. It wasn't normal behavior for a young boy. You were intellectually disabled. Didn't even utter a sound!" Dumbledore spoke, starting to ramble out of nervousness.
Neville laughed aloud at Dumbledore's excuse of Hadrian being 'intellectually disabled', recalling memories of when Hadrian was only five years old, already doing wandless magic and expertly utilizing the cunning in his mind. Daphne, next to him, was also snickering quietly behind her hand. She could never imagine her cunning, powerful, prodigy of a boyfriend as one of those oblivious squib babies that wandered at tended to trip over their own feet every other minute. Everyone was startled at Neville's burst of laughter, turning to stare at the boy.
In a rare act of true bravery, Neville stood up at walked towards Hadrian, placing one of his hands on Hadrian's shoulder, showing his support for his life-long friend. Ginny and Hermione stared, fish mouthed in anticipation of what was going to happen.
"For as long as I've known him, since we were five, Hadrian might have been cold, closed off, and sometimes ruthless, but he was never intellectually disabled, or lacking in anything to do with mind, strength, or magic. And I even dare say that his magical prowess at age 5 could challenge yours now, Albus." Neville spoke boldly, and everyone gasped.
"My boy..." Dumbledore started, but was cut off by Hadrian in another act of disrespect - not that Dumbledore deserved respect anyway.
"I'm not your boy, I'm not anyone's boy. I'm not anyone's son. I never was, and I'm definitely not a boy anymore. You missed those years of my adolescence coddling the already spoilt Potter heir." Hadrian interrupted.
"Well, Mr. Potter," Dumbledore tried again, but was interrupted again by Hadrian. Everyone in the hall was shocked with the way Dumbledore was bending under Hadrian's stare. It seemed emotionless, but there was a flame in his emerald eyes, threatening to engulf Dumbledore like the volcano did to Pompeii.
"Do you not keep up to date with this kind of thing? Or perhaps your age... is finally getting to you," Hadrian drawled, "I haven't been a Potter for 6 years. My name is Hadrian Grey."
"I refuse to call you Mr. Grey. It would show betrayal to your parents, who took so much effort to raise you and-" Dumbledore defied, but the Hadrian raised his hand up, and interrupted Dumbledore again.
"Then call me Hades, for my parents have never existed." Hadrian drawled, as if teaching a kindergartener how to politely address someone.
"Hades," Dumbledore gave in, "You cannot blame me for assuming you were intellectually incapable. You never spoke a word towards me, nor uttered even a sound when I was around. You were already 5, and hadn't even shown a single display of magic. You can't blame me for this ordeal." Many in the great hall frowned at Dumbledore's cowardly attempt to defend himself from the situation.
"Well, Albus," Neville spoke up again, standing up for his lifelong friend, making many others admire his bravery, and even Ginny stared, awed at her boyfriend. "You never gave Hadrian the slightest reason to even speak to you. After all, you're part of the reason his family decided to neglect him, and as seen in the memory, you ignorantly passed off Ms. Mcgonagall's questions and reasoning for validation."
"B-b-but, all children have cases of accidental magic, and Hadrian didn't show any of that." Dumbledore tried to reason.
"Accidental Magic?" Hadrian echoed mockingly, "I had a flew slips of magic, but of course you assumed it was the work of Mason."
"But Mason is powerful for his age!" Lily cried in defense of her spoilt son.
Hadrian sighed, putting on a bored expression.
"Mason is not powerful, he just happens to know spells slightly more advanced than the curriculum for his age. As a teacher yourself, you should know that." Hadrian drawled.
"It's not like you're much more powerful than me or anyone else!" Mason blurted out, in a hazy quickness, trying to defend himself. At first, the only response he received was a cocked eyebrow.
"My, it seems everyone is getting quite old," Hadrian drawled, "Do you not remember what happened at our last duel?" Thinking back to the memory, Mason paled to an unhealthy white, and many students who had witnessed the duel, snickered, immediately starting to explain to their peers what had happened.
"Isn't it relieving?" Hadrian asked the Great Hall, "For all the truth to be revealed? Imagine if we figured all this out the night of Voldemort's attack. That wouldn't have ended well, would it?"
Many students shivered at the thought.
Turning, towards James and Lily, Hadrian's lips curled into a smirk and he spoke: "And maybe my beloved former parents can finally deflate their egos to suitable sizes, so they can finally stop spoiling their red haired lump of a son." James immediately stood up in response, withdrawing his wand, and obviously about to throw a curse. But the Neville stepped in.
"Many of you might think that just because Hadrian is not a member of the Grey Rebels, that he is now fighting alone, but let me tell you that is not true. Hadrian is my brother. I would fight to my death for him, and I am sure he would do the same," Neville said, and Hadrian nodded in agreement. And with that, the two men walked down the Great Hall and out, towards their dorms.
