Quick author note each character is going to have a chapter dedicated to their backstory when that's done we will get on with the true adventure. Ok on with the story.
Max is running through the streets of town, trying his best not to run into anyone. If he is late one more time he's dead. He glances at his watch and sees he has four minutes to go. In his head, he tells himself to run harder. It would take him at least a minute and a half to get to class if he didn't put his stuff in his locker. He slows just slightly when he reaches the school steps. He gets to the classroom and into his seat, just as the bell rings. One of his best friends, Shelby, gives him a slip of paper that reads.
What happened? You run late but you haven't been this late in a long time. Is everything ok or did something happen?
Shelby-
I write one back and tell her that I just overslept. Which wasn't a lie? I did sleep in just not enough to make me this late. The reason I did so was that I worked all day after school and had to stay up doing my homework. But the real reason I was late was my dumb stepdad. Like most mornings I'm late he criticized me for every little thing. For instance, he said I should wear more colors, to not look like I am going to fail school, and worst of all he told me that I should dye my hair because it looks too much like my dad's. The other insults are typical but when this one came out I snapped and told him off. Which before I could finish he slapped me and told me to get to school or else. And that's when I realized that I knew I had to make a run for it. I promised my mom that I would get my grades up and try to do better in school. And that's what I've been doing. My good and super smart (yet she will never admit that she's smart) friend Riley has been helping me. So with her help, I got all of my missing assignments turned in and am now keeping track of the ones that need to be turned in. After school, I meet up with the rest of the gang: Riley, Sky, Aphmau, Ross, and Shelby. We talk for a few minutes but Jess (aph) has to leave to pick up her little brothers Levin and Malachi. We all head to our favorite spot in town and find...... TO BE CONTINUED
