(The next day)
Hiccup's pov:
A new day and a new lesson from Ms. Gothel, after the talk I had with my dad which didn't go so well. I made a plan to try out for the musical without the other riders to know during free period 'Hope this works.' I thought. In Ms. Gothel's room I saw Astrid give something to her and walked back to her seat with a scowl on her face. I turned back to where Merida was siting and gave a little smile to her, until Ms. Gothel began to speak and I was snapped out of my trance.
Ms. Gothel: "Well, I expect we all learned our homeroom manners yesterday, people. Correct? if not, we have some dressing rooms that need painting. Now, a few announcements. This morning during free period will be your chance for the musical auditions, both single and pairs. I will be in the theater until noon for those of you bold enough to extend the wingspan of your creative spirit..."
Jack (whispers to Hiccup): "How would she do back on the mothership?"
(Hiccup snickers)
Once Ms. Gothel finished her lesson, the bell rang and we left for our next classes. I was at my locker grabbing my gear for race practice when Jack comes along to walk with me to practice.
Jack: "Hey, Hiccup."
Hiccup: "Hey, Jack."
Jack: "Hey, so, um, look, the whole team's hitting the track during free period. What do you want to have us practice on?"
Hiccup: "Sorry Jack, I can't make it. I gotta catch up on some homework."
Jack: "What? Hiccup, it's only the second day back. I'm not even behind on homework yet. And, you know, I've been behind on homework since preschool."
Hiccup: "Ha Ha! That's really funny Jack. I'll catch you later."
Jack's pov:
Once Hiccup and I were done talking, he left to do his "homework". I've known him for a long time and even I know when he's lying and not just because he was a terrible liar. "Homework? There's no way, something else is up and I'm going to find out." I said to myself. I started to follow Hiccup but he looked back and saw me. I noticed a smirk on his face, meaning he was going to try and shake me. He went into a classroom, so I stood behind the doorway trying to listen but all he was doing was talking to other students 'What on earth is he doing?' I thought. But I got distracted by other student and Hiccup was gone from the room, I looked around the hallway to see if he came out but he didn't.
Hiccup pov:
I saw that Jack was trying to figure out what I was doing, but luckily I gave him the old "Haddock Slip" a little move my mom taught me in case of emergency. Once he was looking the other way I quickly walked away before he could see me. I headed down the stairs very quick, unaware of Jack was looking for me. I thought I was in the clear when my dad came out of the gym so I hid behind a corner. My dad thought he saw me and headed to where I was hiding so I snucked into the workshop as a getaway and headed out the back door and headed into the auditorium.
I grabbed a janitors cart and hid behind it as I walked onto the stage. I let go of the cart and hid behind the curtains to see Ms. Gothel, Astrid, Flynn and a bunch of other students coming in to tryout. I hid back into the curtain when Ms. Gothel came up to the stage and delivered a speech to the students. I also saw a young girl standing beside Ms. Gothel. She wore a purple top, a white shirt and flower printed shoes. he hair was golden blonde and in a long braid with a small flower pin on the side.
Gothel: "This is where the true expression of the true artist begins. Where inner truth is revealed through the actor's journey..."
(Gets cut off by the bell)
