Can you feel the love tonight?

Hiccup's pov:

I walked out of the music room and went to find Merida. When I found her she had tears flowing out of her eyes "What's wrong, Merida?" I asked, but she didn't answer. "Merida, can you tell me why you're avoiding me?" I asked. "Was I your charity case this hold time?!" she asked me in tears. I was so confused, I had no idea what she was talking about or why she was crying. "Just forget it, I'm going to focus more on the dance fighting competition than you and the callbacks, So good luck at the big race and have fun with your new girlfriend." she said as she stormed off.

After hearing Merida saying that things between us were over I haven't been able to focus and the team. I had Jack cover the morning practice, even when I showed up for practice I couldn't even focus on the race and I would end up crashing on the track. Back home I was trying to get into a little more practice for the big race but I wasn't even improving. My father watch me struggle on the track.

Stoick: "What happened?"

Hiccup: "I have no idea! One minute Merida and I were together, the next she won't even talk to me and now I can't even focus!"

Stoick: "Did something happen between you two?"

Hiccup: "I'm not sure. I was in the music room practicing for the callbacks until Astrid came in and kissed me..."

Stoick: "ASTRID DID WHAT!?"

Hiccup: "She kissed me and I left to find Merida but she was in a bad mood and she said that she didn't want to see me again."

Stoick: "I think you might want to talk to the team about this."

(The Next Day)

Jack's pov:

Hiccup was still in a slump, he didn't even join the team for lunch. By the time he entered the cafeteria, both him and Merida bumped into each other but she left him to join the dance fighting team. Hiccup left the cafeteria and giving us a sad look "What's going on with Hiccup?" asked Jim. "I'm not sure, lets go find out." I said as me and Jim left to follow Hiccup. We found Hiccup on the roof with Toothless.

Jack: "I figure you'd be up here."

Hiccup: "Oh, hi Jack, hi Jim."

Jim: "What's going on with you?"

Hiccup: "I don't want to talk about."

Jack: "Hiccup, you've been avoiding us all day. You haven't been focused on the race. You haven't been yourself since you talked to Merida.

Hiccup: "Guys, I'm fine."

Jim: "No you're not. Please just tell us, we want your captain and your friend back."

Hiccup: (Sighs) Fine. Merida's mad at me and I don't even know why. When I tried to talk to her, she wouldn't listen and she said that she doesn't want to speak to me again."

Jim: "How are we going to find out? I mean, Merida isn't just going to tell us."

Jack: "No but...I know someone who might."

Hiccup, Jim, and I headed to the dance studio. We found Elsa and Claire practicing their route "Elsa, we need to talk." I called out to her. She and Claire walked over to us "Haven't you hurt Merida enough?!" Elsa snapped. "OK. Listen, I've known Hiccup my whole life and I know for a fact that he wouldn't hurt Merida." I explained. Elsa rolled her eyes at me "Then, why did he cheat on her?" asked Claire. "What do you mean?" asked Jim. "Merida told us everything. She saw you and Astrid kissed in the music room." explained Elsa. "You kissed Astrid?!" I shouted.

"N-no, it's not what it looks like! Astrid kissed me against my will. Astrid wanted this to happen, she must have tricked Merida into thinking I was cheating on her." Hiccup explained. The girls believed us but they told us that Merida is still heartbroken, so heartbroken that she refused to do the dance fight battle. "I have to talk to her." said Hiccup as he raced out of the room.

(At night)

Hiccup's pov:

I waited til the end of the day to talk to Merida, luckily Elsa gave me Merida's address so I could talk to her in person. I found Merida's house and knocked on the door. I waited for Merida to open the door but her mother was the one who opened the door. "Hi, I'm looking for Merida, could you let her know that I'm here?" I asked. "I'm sorry, but Merida's not here. She's studying at the moment. Do you mind coming back later?" she explain. I just nodded my head then she closed the door. "Well, looks like I'm doing this the hard way." I said to myself.

I jumped over her fence and landed in her backyard. I pulled out my phone and called Merida. She picked up and started to talk to me as I tried to find a way up to her balcony to her bedroom. By the time I reached the window, I told her to turn around so she could see me.

Merida's pov:

I saw Hiccup at the front door, I told my mother to tell him to go away. I was still mad at him but then he decides to call me.

Merida: "Hello."

Hiccup: "What you saw the other day with me and Astrid, it isn't true. Astrid and Flynn trick you into thing Astrid was with me so you would have a good reason to quit the musical. There is nothing going on between me and Astrid, the only one I love is you."

Merida: "It looked pretty convincing to me."

Hiccup: "Listen, the guy you met on vacation is way more me than the guy who fell for Astrid's stupid trick."

Merida: "Hiccup, the whole singing thing is making the whole school whacked. You said so yourself, everyone's treating you differently because of it."

Hiccup: "Maybe because I don't wanna only just a dragon rider. They can't handle it. It's not my problem, it's theirs."

Merida: "How about your dad?"

Hiccup: "It's not about my dad. This is about how I feel and I'm not letting the team or you down. So I'm going to sing, what about you?"

Merida: "I don't know, Hiccup."

Hiccup: "Well, I hope you say yes, because I've brought you something."

Merida: "What do you mean?"

Hiccup: "Turn around."

I turned to my balcony, only to find Hiccup waiting for me. I opened the door and he started singing our song that we sang together on vacation "Our song?" I asked him. He nodded yes, I now know my answer to do the audition. "So, do you forgive me?" he asked. "does this answer your question?" I asked as I walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek.
