Against my better judgement, I take a sharp right turn into the woods in an attempt to lose the hungry vampire that follows very closely in my footsteps as I run for my life.

Both Elise and Jackie are in pursuit behind me. Both are chasing me for very different reasons. Elise's goal is probably to drain me of every drop of blood in my body. Jackie's intent it to, hopefully, stop Elise from succeeding in her goal.

Faster.

Faster.

Faster.

I run as straight as I can through the trees, hoping that it will be easy to find my way back to my house when all of this is done and over with. I don't want to get lost in here. Although, running in a random pattern through the trees may make it easier for me to dodge the bloodthirsty vampire trailing behind me...

This situation is life and death for me. Literally. If I don't continue to outrun Elise, she is definitely going to kill me. There is no telling if Jackie will be able to stop her if Elise is able to sink her teeth into my neck.

I feel my heart beat violently in my ears louder than it has ever been before in my entire life. Thump Thump Thump Thump Thump. I can hear every single labored breath I take and I am increasingly aware of my limbs growing more and more tired with every hurried step I take.

I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up. I hope Jackie is able to eliminate Elise soon or else Elise will be the one doing the killing...

I can feel Elise behind me. I feel like I can feel her breath on the back of my neck. Though I know she is close, I am not exactly sure how close she is. But I will not dare look behind my shoulder to see how close for fear that I will either trip of become even more terrified and lose any more of my valuable stamina.

I pump my tired legs legs as fast as they will go, dodging holes in the slightly moist dirt as I go. I hear Elise cackle behind me, causing both my breathing and my heart to speed up with fear. Yet, no matter how hard I try, I can not seem to make my legs carry me any faster.

I begin to panic, knowing that Elise will eventually catch up to me. I don't have much left in me. I zoom under various shades of greens, browns, reds, and yellows though my legs ache and the wind dries out my eyes.

I am losing steam. My body aches from all this time spent running. I am losing energy rapidly. The adrenaline of being chased seems to be wearing off at this point in my daring escape. But worst of all, I am losing faith that I will make it out of this situation alive.

At least I know that if I die, I will be with James again.

I scream as my body stops abruptly, slamming violently into something. Or, someone. I stand at the same time as Anthony. The force of our bodies colliding knocked us both to the forest floor. Anthony grabs on to me as I try to flee.

He smiles and wipes a leaf out of my messy hair. "Hey. I was just coming over to talk to you at your house about-"

"No time!" I stop him. "I have to go!" I try to break free of his grasp as he holds on to me tighter and tighter, digging his nails deeper in my skin the more I fight against him.

He raises his fist at me, preparing to strike me in the face. "I said I was coming over to-" he stops speaking abruptly as Elise leaps onto his back, sinking her sharp fangs effortlessly into his soft neck.

The force of her attack sends all of us to the dirt. My head slams into the base of a tree. I watch Anthony get the life sucked out of him for a moment before realizing that I need to run while she is distracted. As bad as it may seem, this could be a chance for me to lose her.

Anthony screams for help as Elise slowly kills him. He reaches out for me as I sit myself up and slowly back away from them. His eyes show the amount of pain he is in. I am sure he feels like I am betraying him in this moment.

I don't blame him. I feel worse than he my believe I do. But I need to take this chance to escape while I can.

Elise removes her fangs from Anthony and stands, moving towards me as she wipes her kith free of his blood.  "Man, I hate abusive men! But he sure was tasty!"
