Jackie
Roslyn and I arrive at the Witch's lair after I tracked his scent for what felt like hours. I enter first, keeping Roslyn behind me just incase things turn bad quickly. She doesn't have the same abilities that I have. She would be seriously injured if the witch is still here.
"She's already fled. We are safe. She knew we were coming." I update Roslyn on the current situation. She rushes ahead of me to find James.
"Jackie!" She calls out for me. I pick up my speed and rush to her side. Once there, I see exactly what struck panic into her body.
James is suspended in the air by a magic spell. His life is being drained from him and subsequently pumped into Julie's suspended body.
The sight is terrifying. I have never seen dark magic used in real life. I have only read about it in books and heard my parents' stories about witches and warlocks.
I can't believe James got sucked so far into a hole that he would do this to himself and our family.
I have to stop this.
"You grab James. I'll grab Julie!" I leap into action, grabbing my twin sister and yanking her from the air back to solid ground. She opens her eyes, revealing their blood-red color as she smiles.
"It was only a matter of time before one of you gave your life for mine." She laughs. "I knew James was too weak to ignore his destiny."
"You need to stop this now! He's going to die!" Roslyn begs, grabbing on to James' pained face as he refuses to respond to her and break out of the trance.
"Don't you see?" Julie asks. "There is no way to stop this. His soul belongs to me now!"
"We both know that there is a way to stop this." I remind Julie of the rules of magic. There is always a way.
"You wouldn't dare!" Julie growls.
"Please!" Roslyn screams, begging both James to wake up and for Julie to end this massacre.
"Please don't make me have to chose between you and James. Please don't. Just do the right thing Julie!" I shout, hoping that for once in her life, she will chose her family over her own selfish needs.
"It's already done." She smirks, continuing to absorb the life from James.
I stand and march over to the bookshelf, looking for something to stop this madness. I find a blood-stained wooden stake on the table beside it, half concealed by papers thrown haphazardly. Briefly hesitating, I grab the stake in my hands and grip it tight.
Tears flood to my eyes as I walk over to Julie and hold the wood high above my head as she cowers beneath me. "Jack?"
"I'm so sorry Julie!" I shout through my tears. I thrust the wooden stake into her heart and watch her collapse to the ground. Roslyn screams, holding James in her lap after watching me murder my own sister.
Though Julie is as good as dead, I know that if that stake is removed, she will be as full of life as she always has been. But I also know that she will never be the same again.
I need to end this once and for all.
I shake my head and grab on to hers, pulling it from her body and chucking it across the room, along with the ability for her to ever become my sister again. "I told you not to make me choose!" I scream at her lifeless body through raging tears as if it is her fault all of this has happened.
I sink to the floor, feeling the weight of having just effectively killed my sister for good. The pain in my head boils to a high. I rest my forehead against Julie's chest and feel her pain for the last time, feeling every ounce of pain she felt when I murdered her.
Author's note: so Julie is dead (for real this time(maybe)👀) what are your thoughts? What will happen next?
