"Hey psycho, what are you doing here?!"
It was the girl who had come for me on behalf of Bruce Wayne. The leather chick.
"Hey," I panted, catching my breath from all the running, "You're that 'Kyle' girl, aren't you?"
"It's Selina." She corrected, turning away from me as she continued to walk down the narrow alley, "And you didn't answer my question."
I followed her, "Why do I need a reason to be in the city? Am I not allowed, is it against the law?" I mocked with a slight grin as she twisted to face me.
"Well considering you broke out of Arkham, yeah, I'm sure the cops will be happy to see you."
She had a point.
I was too busy planning an attack on Jim Gordon that I hadn't even considered he'd be coming after me along with the rest of the Gotham City Police Department.
"If you were going to turn me in to the GCPD, you would've done it by now." I said, stepping closer to her.
She paused before leaning into me, "Don't test me."
I smiled as she turned on her heel and strolled away, myself following short behind.
After a day of chasing after Selina, she finally let me roll with her. Afterall, I didn't really know the streets of Gotham and I didn't really want to be alone.
"I've been eyeing this place for weeks," Selina murmured to me as she perched up on the brick ledge opposite the fancy house, "There's a party happening tonight; downstairs only. So the upstairs will be deserted."
"And that's how we'll get in." I added, trying to pretend that I knew what we were doing.
We waited as the hours passed. The sky turning to a darkened grey mist.
"How comes you feel the need to rob people?" I asked out of the blue, looking up at Selina as the icy wind hit against my face.
She turned to me, sarcastically responding, "Oh sorry we can't all be rich like you. Some of us need to earn our keep."
I stepped closer to the ledge, folding my arms against my chest in an attempt to keep warm, "I'm not rich, Selina. If I were, do you think I would be staying with Jeremiah? Heck no. Besides... I meant, why not get a job?"
An uncomfortable silence fell, the only noises being heard from the flapping wind and police sirens a couple blocks away.
"I just don't." Selina mumbled, almost unaudible, before looking at me, "This is just how I do things, yeah?"
I gulped back the regret I felt of asking her that question, nodding as I stepped closer to her, "I understand."
"I don't think you do," She replied before abruptly jumping down off the ledge, "And quite frankly, I don't care. We've got a house to rob."
"Show time." I grinned, following after her.
