"Vic, it's like two in the morning!" I breathed, attempting to keep up with him as my bare feet scratched against the stones beneath, "Would you tell me where we're going?!" I asked as we got into the car.
Victor remained silent, though, as he began driving off.
I watched out the window into the pitch black of the night as the cold started to creep up on me.
"I've been in contact with Penguin," Victor said suddenly, his breath visible in the icy air as he continued, "He's been telling me about a 'war' that's coming to Gotham. And... how Jerome is alive after all. I didn't believe him...-"
There was a slight pause as Victor's words trailed off, leaving silence to take over as my hands trembled in my lap.
What was happening?!
After a moment, I found the ability to speak again, "Victor, where are we going?" I repeated, anxiety crawling through my veins as we sped through the damp streets of Gotham.
"We're going to Penguin's Mansion." He replied, adding on in a quieter tone, "They're all waiting for us..."
I snapped my head in his direction, "Who's 'all'?"
Victor took his eyes off the road to look into mine as he answers, "Jerome and Penguin have gathered an army. Jerome wants to go up against Jeremiah to run Gotham."
My head was a complete mess and it felt as if time was slowing down - Victor's lips moving in slow motion - as the truth came crashing down to me like a strong hurricane.
I felt like I couldn't catch my breath... like I'd just run a marathon for the first time.
