"Mum!", I heard an angels like voice, "Mummy, wake up!"

I slowly opened my eyes and smiled immediately as I saw her.

"Mummy, you have to wake up!"

"Good morning, sweetie", I said yawning and sat down on our bed, "Why are you already awake?"

Her big blue eyes glanced at me. She definitely had her father's eyes.

"Because it's my birthday", she replied and crossed her arms.

I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her closer to me.

"I know", I retorted and kissed her forehead, "How could I ever forget your birthday?"

She smirked at me.

"Where's daddy?", she asked curiously.

"Oh, he's probably preparing our house for you."

Her eyes were now sparkling because of excitement and I loved this expression on her.

Suddenly, the door opened and Danny entered our bedroom.

"Good morning, princess", he greeted Elsa as she ran towards him. He gently held her in embrace and lifted her up.

"How are my beautiful girls today?"

I giggled as he sat down with Elsa right next to me. Then he gently placed his lips on mine and kissed me softly.

"Good morning, Kate", he whispered then.

"Good morning", I whispered back and leaned my head against his shoulder.

"Long night?", he wanted to know.

I nodded.

"Yeah, it was crazy!", I told him and sighed, "We really need a new principal consultant. It's urgent! I swear, last night was completely upside down..."

Since John Stevens, the former principal consultant of Saint Claire's General Hospital, has quit it's been a hard time. Obviously, it was more difficult to find someone for this job than I expected.

"I heard they finally found someone", Danny interrupted my thoughts, "Yeah, his name is Nathan Stark, a former cardiac surgeon."

I looked at him in disbelief. Great, another one to tell me how to do my job.

"Don't worry, he's not going to control every step of you", Danny tried to calm me down.

I forced me to smile. He always knew what to say.

Elsa listened to us closely.

"I heard he did a really good job in New York", he added.

"Then why's he coming to Seattle? It's always raining here..."

"I thought you liked rainy days...", he countered.

"I do like rainy days but not every day... Sometimes, I miss the sun", I explained.

"Well, I don't know. Maybe he does like his days to be rainy?", Danny suggested smirkingly, "Anyway, he'll be introduced officially on Monday..."

Officially introduced on Monday... Great! At least that gave me two last days without big brother.

"Okay, let's skip that for now", I concluded and tried not to think of that guy anymore. What was his name again? Nathan Stark? Never heard of him...

"Exactly!", Danny agreed and softly kissed Elsa's head.

She giggled.

"Today's our little girl's day", he continued, "So, what would you like to do, sweetie?"

Immediately, she smiled from one ear to another.

For me, there was nothing more wonderful in this world than seeing your daughter smile like that. If she was happy I was happy, too.

Suddenly, Danny got up and laid Elsa over his shoulder.

"Come on, princess", he said, "We'll wait downstairs until mummy's ready, okay?"

"Okay!", she replied laughing.

Danny was a good father. He was always good to Elsa and treated her well. And he was a wonderful husband. Although we've been married since eight years already it was like we've just fallen in love. Even if we had a fight we couldn't let go of each other. Maybe because he was not just my husband, moreover he was my best friend as well. And right now, I couldn't imagine my life to be more perfect!

Today was Elsa's sixth birthday and I immediately remembered the first time I held her in my arms. Thank god, she had Danny's beautiful eyes! I still know how I got lost in them for the first time... It was at our first party at Harvard's University. We accidentally bumped into another. Funny, how things turn out...
