As the first beacons of light shone through the huge windows of Nathan's chamber, I slowly opened my eyes and yawned before I looked around, recognizing it was actually the first time I've ever been in his chamber. It was a huge room with big white walls that were now reflecting the sunlight that lighted up the inside through the huge windows that were leading to a balcony with a breathtaking view above Seattle. It must have been one of the few rare days where it wasn't raining.
We were laying in a mahogany kingsize bed with black satin sheets. It was very comfortable and I already caught myself thinking about spending every night in here.
Not just because of the bed, obviously.I took a deep breath, inhaling Nathan's magnificent fragrance while my head was resting on his bare chest, slightly moving up and down as I listened to the comforting sound of his regular heartbeat, leaving a tired smile on my face.
After a few seconds of enjoying our intimate togetherness, I eventually looked up to him, his eyes still closed while he was asleep.
Immediately, I had to smile from one ear to another. This was just right. Perfect.
After everything that has happened, I would have never imagined my life to be like this. And if somehow had tried to tell me, I would have probably laughed about his crazy imagination.
But the truth was, and I gladly repeated it, I was happy, happier than I've ever been before. Nathan made me happy. He was so kind and understanding. Despite everything we've been through and the times I had refused him, he never really let go of me.
I was thankful to have him in my life. And I wouldn't want to lose him ever again. He made me happy.Suddenly, a quiet moan escaped his mouth, making me look up to him again as he slowly opened his eyes and a smile appeared on his lips.
"Good morning", he whispered and protectively kissed my forehead.
"Good morning, sleepyhead", I countered smirkingly.
He grinned and started to tickle me, making me scream before he wrapped his arms around my body, holding me tight as his chin rested on my head.
"I hope you had a good rest last night", he mumbled into my ear.
I giggled quietly and tried to escape his embrace although he didn't let me.
"I had, indeed", I agreed and leaned in for a kiss.
For a second, he simply looked at me, his golden sparkled eyes observing me closely before he gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"Are you okay?", he asked hesitantly.
I nodded quickly.
"I am, Nathan", I whispered and smiled at him, "Never felt any better."
"Okay", he agreed quietly and kissed me again.
Burying my hands in his hair, I pulled him closer towards me, falling on my back until he was hovering only inches above me, his puppy eyes looking right into mine.
"I love you, Kate", he whispered, running his fingers through my hair, "And as empathetic as I am-..."
We both laughed in unison.
"I don't want to apply pressure on you" he continued then and half smiled at me, "You don't have to say it if you don't feel it. That's okay, I understand that."
Immediately, I placed my finger on his lips to stop him.
"You talk to much", I interrupted him and kissed him again, "Sometimes you really talk to much, Nathan."
For a short moment, he just looked into my eyes.
I gulped and took a deep breath.
"I love you, too", I whispered then and couldn't help but smile as those words finally left my mouth, "I love you, Nathan! It's so easy to say but-... I love you. I'm no longer afraid to say it."
