"Treecko, bullet seed!" Sawyer commanded. Treecko shot out numerous glowing green seeds from its mouth at the towering blastoise in front of him, across the basic dirt battlefield.
The seeds shot out at an average speed with measly power, nothing the fully evolved starter couldn't take. The seeds struck blastoise in its stomach, not doing any damage.
Sawyer started looking defeated because his attacks were doing nothing. "Hey! This is only training, plus we've been battling for years!" Gary shouted.
"He's right, and you haven't battled with treecko before, but you are still looking like a good duo for anyone your power, not to mention treecko's movement capabilities." Tracey then said.
This picked up some of Sawyer's spirits and belief. "Right!" Sawyer said showing them he's listening. "Treecko! Use bullet seed, but stay on the move!"
"Tree!" Treecko said in response and ran around blastoise, jumping, rolling and dodging the hydro pumps blasted its way at a reduced power, of course.
Meanwhile, with professor Sycamore and Brandon. "So this is the list for pokemon that are known to be able to mega evolve. At least the ones we know right now." Professor Sycamore said while handing over a sheet of paper to Brandon.
Brandon took the sheet of paper and looked attentively and intensely at all the names written down. He raised one eyebrow as something caught his attention, "Charizard X and Charizard Y?"
"Yes, there are two known forms that charizard can mega evolve into depending on the mega stone." Professor Sycamore explained.
"Interesting..." Brandon muttered as he kept looking down the list. "Rayquaza?!" Brandon said this time in complete shock.
"Yes, when in Hoenn for the clash between primal Groudon and primal Kyogre, Rayquaza stepped in and we witnessed it change form on its own just like mega evolution." Sycamore informed.
"A very fascinating topic all in itself." Brandon said, expressing his interest in the subject. "What kind of power does this type of evolution give to a pokemon?" Brandon inquired.
"It boosts the power of pokemon's attack powers and boosts their endurance to take hits. It effectively boosts their overall power, different for every pokemon of course. It can even grant new abilities while in this new state." Professor Sycamore answered.
"For example like... Sableye, the bulk it gives to the pokemon makes it unlike any other normal Sableye. It's unreal what we recorded." Professor Sycamore further explained. "As to an example of new abilities Charizard Y gets drought so it can boost the power of fire type moves with the sun while also getting a quick solar beam off, if it has it to cover water, ground and or rock types."
Brandon nodded his head in understanding of what he was being told. "Do you understand as to where the power comes from when they mega evolve and how to mega evolve?" Brandon asked.
"Well mega evolution is unlocked when a trainer has a key stone and the pokemon has the correct mega stone. They then need to have a strong bond to unlock the energy within the stones that unveil mega evolution and revert back after battle." Professor Sycamore said and paused to take a breath.
"This power of mega evolution actually only unlocks a deep power and old hidden instincts within pokemon that show their true power." Professor Sycamore finished.
"So, this is something that pokemon used to have millions of years ago?" Brandon asked.
"Yes, but this is something that pokemon have adapted from and changed. If you read Tyranitar's Pokedex entry, you'll understand." Professor Sycamore said.
