I was so zoned out that I just started to come away from the world, at least mostly because all I could hear was the squawking of spearows up in the massive oak tree at the back of the field. This wasn't just any field, it was dotted with evenly spread out stones sticking out of the ground.
" we come here toda-" the funeral conductor started off, while I was just thinking about the question that's been on my mind for days. Why? Why did you do it Brock?
The answer is something I won't ever find in ages, probably never. With my mother's death I have been taking more attention to the little things. For example right now I'm concentrating on the rain continuously pounding on the three umbrellas around the coffin. Me, professor Oak and the funeral conductor, all stood round the coffin with our heads slightly angled down as the coffin was only slightly raised off of the ground.
I felt a hand on my left shoulder and turned to see professor Oak giving me another one of his trusting and pitiful looks, almost as if he was sharing my pain. I gave him a look back of emptiness. I couldn't think of a reply. I just couldn't, not with the fact that my only real close family member is now dead.
Hours passed and professor Oak offered to take care of Mr mime, and since they were already acquainted Mr mime was happy to help out the professor at his lab. As for me, as I am next of kin, I have to give permission, but since professor Oak is the only person I trust, I didn't have to think twice. The reason why he still has my trust is because he earnt it.
I was walking home with pikachu beside me from the cemetery in silence. No words needed to be said as me and pikachu have developed such a strong bond that it felt like we were one. Like trainer like pokemon might not be too far off of a weirdly accurate saying.
We reached our home and I slumped onto the sofa with an expressionless sigh. I decided to turn on the tv for our entertainment and flicked through the channels. It went from cooking pokeblocks, puffins and something new, to me, which they call pokepuffs and something else they call malasadas, all the way to past pokemon leagues. Usually me and pikachu would have stopped it right there and got excited about just watching a battle, but we just aren't in the mood. I then flicked it over one more time to find something we are in the mood for, if you can call it that.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted and got on all fours with his cheeks sparking furiously. I then mimicked the rage building up inside him by clenching my fists and watching very attentively.
" young, aspiring trainers across the globe, welcome back to our interviews of every gym leader of every region. Today we will be coming back to the original region where the first pokemon league was set up. We are now about to enter the Pewter city gym and talk to the gym leader, Brock" the camera then followed the interviewer into the gym getting an almost movie shot of the entire gym.
Sounds of pokemon moves colliding and trainers shouting consumed our ears, through the tv. Brock had a challenger and they caught the tail end of it as Brock's steelix finished off the charmeleon with gyro ball.
" the nerve" I muttered as the reporter made her way over to where Brock was praising his steelix.
"Kaaaaa!" Pikachu now becoming seriously riled up that the sparks from his cheeks were stinging my left forearm.
" I know, pikachu, how can he smile like that? Especially after what he knows he's done!" I raised my voice. I couldn't take it anymore, the pain was too great watching his mug of a face, so happy and content with life while mine feels like hell and it hasn't been a week. I turned off the tv, took off my mat black and snow white striped jumper and started running out the door.
It was just becoming dusk and I was jogging down the road just out of Pallet town and into the forest. The forest felt like a completely new atmosphere as I entered, like I had just gone into a different dimension. Me and pikachu both didn't stop, instead we decided to test our limits.
Me and my partner were fully immersed into the forest and our challenge. I was heating up and started to sweat furiously. " uggh" I groaned at the burning sensation in my legs.
I collapsed onto the floor, hyperventilating like never before and pikachu doing the same alongside me. The run still didn't eradicate the anger inside me. With all my remaining energy I swayed and stumbled as I got onto my feet. Looking straight ahead I saw an average oran berry tree ripe with... well oran berries.
I walked up to the tall plant with my fists in front of my face, prepared for anything and ready to let my anger out. In the corner of my eye I saw pikachu caught onto my drift as he broke rocks in half with iron tail and burnt trees with thunderbolt. I put my left fist on the tree mentally preparing myself for what I was about to do. I had my stance, posture and composure, I now just needed the execution. I pulled back my left fist and punched the tree with my right."argh" I groaned and winced in pain while holding my right hand in front of my face.
As the pain started to subside I took my southpaw stance again. I then this time punched it with my left a little lighter this time because my conscience wouldn't let me punch quite as hard. Then I started to increase my speed with even louder screams of pain. I didn't stop. I kept going, until again I ran out of my remaining energy and kneeled on the floor.
I looked to my left and saw pikachu fire one last thunderbolt towards a big and very old oak tree. The powerful finish caused a massive explosion. The tree cracked and started to tip faster and faster towards the ground. It picked up speed until it crashed into the ground with many flying type pokemon fleeing in fear.
"Nice, we could use that in a league hey pikachu?" I asked rhetorically with a chuckle.
" pika pi" the yellow rodent said and scratched the back of his head.
" Yeah, we really could use that form of firepower, not just for leagues but for taking down Brock and anyone else who tries to hurt our friends" I said and with that me and pikachu were fired up and prepared to take down anyone who deserved it, at least in our eyes.
