"Hello Lily. Such a shame you married Potter. A mudblood you may be, but you're a bloody good witch; you could have been useful to me."

She scoffed at his ridiculous remark.

"Oh yes that's exactly what I want to do. Join a psychotic wizard and his gang of pureblood lunatics and kill any wizard or witch that might even be the least bit better than any of us due to some crazy need to be the best."

The man growled, and glanced over at the crib which held two babies, a boy and a girl, before laughing.

"Your husband was so easy to kill off. Faking your scream of help from outside, one flick of my wand, shouting Avada Kedavra, and James Potter ceased to exist. Now your insignificant children can watch their mother die."

She covered the babies with her body, and whispered "I love you." There was a flash of green light before she fell in a heap next to the crib. The man chuckled and looked at the babies.

"Oh, you stupid, stupid children. Orphaned just as I was. Maybe I should let you live, but raise you as my own. Ha, as if I'd raise filthy blood traitors. Your mother was not worthy of being a witch. All muggle borns should perish. Goodbye Harley and Harry Potter, say hello to the rest of your kind for me. Avada Kedavra!"

The green bolt shot from his wand, and hit them. Voldemort let out a scream, and as soon as everything settled. No one was in the room. The woman was dead on the floor, and the babies were alone in their crib. Footsteps sounded on the stairs, and the boy began to cry. A man with shoulder length black hair bounded into the room, and stopped when he saw their mother's body. The boy's crying did not affect him in the slightest. He wrapped his arms around their mum and began to sob violently.

"Oh Lily, why didn't I try to stop him? I could have done something... Anything... I love you Lily Evans... I always will."

He quickly turned his head, and saw the babies. He slowly walked towards them and stared for a few seconds.

"You are your father Harry."

His voice seemed almost venomous when he spat the word father. He turned to look at the girl, and his expression softened.

"Harley... besides your hair color, you look exactly like Lily."

He wiped a stray tear, and sank to the ground, and pulled the woman back into his lap. He gently kissed her forehead, and sighed.

"I, Severus Snape, promise that I'll always protect your children Lily. Even if that involves me dying. I couldn't save you, so I'll save them instead."

I woke up panting, and looked around at my surroundings. I sighed in relief when I realized I was in my bed, at Hogwarts. The dream, or rather, nightmare that I had just had felt too real. I had the dream before but it had never included Snape. I couldn't understand why I always dreamt of the night my parents were killed, nor could I understand how I remembered it all so clearly. Harry had gotten a scar that he could mostly hide with his hair. It was small but awkward since it was in the middle of his forehead. I, however, received the worst of the curse. My entire back was covered in a thick ugly scar that looked like a cluster of lightning bolts. I sighed to myself and began to sit up.

Classes had been in session for three weeks now and Fred was still avoiding me. I quietly slipped out of bed and saw everyone was asleep in my room. I made my way down to the common room, heard fire crackling, and slowed down my steps, before peering around the corner. A familiar mess of orange hair sat staring at the fire. I sighed and walked quietly over to him. He looked up at me and gave me a small smile. I sat down next to him and he sighed before facing me.

"Why are you ignoring me?" I asked, refusing to look at his face.

Fred sighed again and grabbed my face, forcing me to meet his eyes.

"Because I'm the biggest arse in the world now, and I hate myself for it. I thought I loved you, but the reality of it was I was comfortable with you. You have been a constant part of my life Harley. You were always there for me, you're beautiful, you make me laugh, and I thought that was what love was. When we got back here to Hogwarts, I realized we were better off being just friends. I should have told you this flat out, but I cheated and hurt you because as I said, I'm an arse."

I sat next to him in silence for a few moments before cracking a smile.

"Freddie, I'm okay. If you just explained it, we wouldn't have had this little squabble, and we would have been able to handle these first three crazy weeks together. You'll always be one of my best friends."

He smiled and hugged me tighter, "And you'll always be mine."

We talked for a few hours, catching up on what we had missed in one another's lives. I told him about my dream and he told me not to worry. I told him about Malfoy and he said don't let him get to you. Despite him being one of my best friends, he didn't provide much clarity when it came to what I should do. As the sun began to peak out from the horizon, I said goodnight and made my way to bed. One problem dealt with, only a hundred more to go.
