"Let's go people. Pretend that thing in front of you is trying to kill you. I want to hear curses, see how fast you can make potions, and I want to see that we can win."
My once fellow peers nodded their heads at me, and obediently did what I asked just like muggle soldiers. The older students helped the younger ones with more complex spells and potions, and I made sure no one got hurt. The battle was supposed to take place in less than a week. I had prepared these kids as much as I could and I hope it was enough.
Elizabeth and James were working with some of the professors to get them prepared for the fight since most of them had not dueled in years, if ever.
I worked with James on looking for visions of the battle, but I couldn't see anything specific. I couldn't see the outcome, who would get killed, who would live, nothing. I saw absolutely nothing of importance and it was killing me. James knew it was killing me and tried to help me relax as much as possible, but it was no use.
Draco refused to see me and Bian wasn't even at the school. She was Voldemort's little pet and it completely sickened me. I promised her that I wouldn't let anything happen to her, and now I couldn't do anything to protect her.
The week was flying by and before we knew it, there was only one day until May 2nd. Only one day until the fate of everyone's lives changed. There would be deaths, and there was no one to change that. Who would die, and who would live really rested in the hands of all of us. Who would we kill? Voldemort and his loyal death eaters wouldn't hesitate to kill each and every one of us. They would do it with a smile on their face and an evil glint in their eyes.
The people I had taught, the people I loved and admired, they couldn't just kill like that. Sure, some of them might be able to in order to save themselves, but did any of them really have a horrible grudge against any one member of the death eaters?
Neville had gone to do some spy work in town, and I smiled when he popped out of the one tunnel, what I wasn't expecting was who he brought with him.
"HARRY!"
"Guys, it's Potter!"
"Harry Potter way to show up man!"
Harry gleamed at all of them and turned towards me. Before he could speak, I cut him off.
"Alright everyone, since I know you are all distracted by the fact that Harry is here, I just want to say a few things. These past months I have seen all of you transform from students, to warriors. Whatever happens tomorrow, keep fighting. Don't let anyone or anything stop you. I've taught you all I can, and now I get to see you all save this place. Remember our plans, and remember one last thing; Voldemort will not stop until he's dead, or Harry and I are dead. It's either us or him. No matter who dies, no matter if he's the only one left standing on his side, he's ruthless and won't stop. Now get some food, talk to these three, and then get some rest. We're going to need it."
I walked away, and went to sit where no one else was. I could see Harry talking, and I sighed. No matter how much I had helped any of them, they wanted my brother. He was the star. Raised as a muggle for eleven years then brought to Hogwarts where he saved us all time and time again. Yet he never did it on his own. I was always by his side, but I forget... No one cares about the sidekick.
I saw Luna and Harry leave together talking about heading to Ravenclaw tower to find a diadem or something like that. I grabbed my wand, a broom, and the second invisibility cloak we had found, and followed after them. They had apparated faster than me, and somehow were already there and gone when I got there. Professor McGonagall was rushing along with them close at her heels in the invisibility cloak. I continued to follow when I heard screams. McGonagall and Snape started dueling and I apparated back to the room of Requirements. I took a quick look in Voldemort's head and saw he was already headed to Hogwarts.
"No time for food, sleep, or practice. Voldemort is almost here. Move people, Move!"
I started shouting directions and orders to all of DA and they scrambled to grab their wands, potion bottles and brooms. We ran out of the room, and were found by a group of death eaters. I didn't hesitate as I shouted the killing curse and watched as they all fell crumpled to the ground.
"Grab their wands and whatever else they have on them and quick. Younger students pair with an older student, non-students keep moving. Healers into the great hall, get the cots set up and the potions brewing. Everyone to their posts, and let's go."
Everyone split and ran to where they needed to go. I had both Fred and George with me along with Ron and Hermione who decided to join us. McGonagall was gathering all the teachers, and getting most of the younger students out. The teachers then began to charm the school to keep Voldemort out. All the statues and coats of armor were enchanted to aid in the battle. The ghosts and paintings all prepared themselves and the order slowly began to arrive.
Fred held one of my hands in his, while Harry grabbed the other. People continued to link onto us, as we stood in the middle of the great hall. This was it. All the preparations we had made, all the things we had been taught, and now we were being tested. I rested my head on Harry's shoulder as everyone held their breath. Tonight, we showed the world we were not afraid to die.
