"Incredible." Jemma Simmons mumbles while staring intently at Emma's cheek. The only real injuries she sustained were from the fight, not from the explosion itself. It was like Emma's body, since she had her abilities, was used to something like the fire and had no reaction. So in the end, Emma was fine.

Maybe a little in shock because of Edward's death, a few scrapes and bruises, and finally her shoulder. That was the worst of her injuries and only needed a sling for a few days. Emma wanted to get up and wander, get away before Steve Rogers....no no her father walked through the door and accidentally saw her.

See, Emma had the tendency to have bad luck for that type of situation. She'd be in hiding from Hydra and in line for some food at a fast food place when an agent that she recognized would step in the line beside her. Emma would usually recognize them first, freeze up, sneak away, and run for her life when said agent finally discovered that it was her. Emma had a feeling that's how it would go if Steve walked into the room.

Alas, Jemma was not having it. She was completely fascinated by everything Emma and wanted to learn as much as she could in the little time frame they had. Jemma didn't know that Captain America was on his way with Coulson and Fury, believing that he was just getting briefed about some agent that had died on a mission.

"Okay, look if I promise to share SHIELD classified information with you two, will you let me go?!" Emma cries while slamming her left hand on the table. Fitz, Jemma's partner and fellow scientist, jumps up from his seat and instantly starts listening again.

"Yes, we will totally let you go." Fitz nods eagerly. "Tell us everything."

"Fitz!" Jemma cries. "You can't just say yes right away, she may say something we already know."

"You have powerful knock out equipment." Emma deadpans. "I'm sure you'll find a way for me to stay if that's the case."

"She's got a point," Fitz admits. "Please, tell us."

"I'll even throw in the sweet deal of me coming back for you to do all the investigating you want...later." Emma bargains, causing Jemma to finally give her full attention as well. After a few seconds of silence to wait and see if anyone objected, Emma quickly launches into the explanation of who she was and why she was trying to leave.

By the end of it, both scientists had their mouths hanging open in surprise and seemed to be struck silent. Jemma is the first to pull herself together, filling the air with questions. "Wait, so you're Captain America's daughter, they found you in a cry-o-freeze chamber, and you're trying to run from him?"

"Precisely." Emma nods, not understanding why they had a hard time with this. "He can't see me like this. I was like four when he 'died' and now I'm sixteen covered in injuries. As all reunions go, he'll picture his little girl and be very protective once he sees how injured I am."

"The sling can't come off for a week or two," Fitz states while wheeling his chair back towards his computer. "You're really going to hide for that long? I thought Fury and Coulson wanted you to meet him now before you like...died or something."

"That's what they want, I think differently," Emma replies. "I'm very good at hiding from confrontational situations."

"Daisy is too," Jemma mumbles under her breath. "We're free to investigate? Any test we want?"

"As long as there are no sharp, long needles." Emma states. "I have PTSD from that."

"Deal." Jemma smiles. "Get out of here, they'll be coming from the right."

"You're angels, both of you." Emma gushes while pushing herself off the table.

"I wouldn't, they're coming now," Fitz announces, his gaze fixed on his computer. Emma furrows her eyebrows and rushes over to look at it herself. She curses under her breath and looks around, there was literally nowhere to hide here.

Emma turns her gaze to the ceiling where there was a vent sitting right above the table. A smile appears on her face and she quickly jumps onto the metal table and, with her good arm, punches it open. Within seconds, Emma had pulled herself into the vent and closed it just as Fury had entered the room with Steve and Coulson right behind.

"Where is the patient?" Fury questions while tipping his head to the side, a glare etched onto his face. The two stay silent for a few moments before Fitz jumps up and points to the vent. "I swear to god. Emma! Get your motherfucking ass down here now!"

"Over my dead body, asshole!" She screams back before awkwardly crawling away, she didn't want to have to bring out the big guns so early but Emma would do what it takes to give her some sort of head start. Emma didn't really know her way around these vents but she knew that she'd find her way eventually. She hears Fury order a few agents to close down the vents and send a search party after her, which only causes Emma to crawl faster.

If she could at least get to the weapons vault, she'd be okay. Fury grumbles curse words while rubbing his temples, maybe he had forgotten how Emma's episodes really had their effect on him. Yes, he missed the girl but sometimes she was a large pain in the ass.

"Fury, I thought you said the agent was a boy," Steve states while tipping his head to the side in confusion. "And...dead. What am I doing here?"

"It is a long story." Coulson shakes his head as Fury starts to climb onto the table to go after Emma. "He'll find her soon, in the meantime have you ever seen a Captain America snuggie?"

"A what?" Steve questions.

"Let me show you." He replies. "This way, to my office."

"I don't know if we should stop them or Fury," Fitz states while switching his gaze between the three. "Rock paper scissors?"

"It's not our problem." Jemma shrugs. "I've got all I need here."

"You cannot possibly study her blood while this is happening...whoa is that what I think it is?" Fitz questions while sliding next to her. "Never mind, we're totally going to study her blood."
