"You've got mail." Eiza calls out while walking inside our dorm room. She places a yellow envelope for me on the counter while I pour myself some coffee. I raise a brow at the messy handwriting. In red ink my name is spelled across the front. Once I tear it open and pull out its contents my stomach feels nauseous. My body turns rigid and I slam my cup back down before analyzing the grainy photo of James and I kissing in his office. I turn it over and my eyes re-read the one sentence as many times as I possibly can.

not so innocent after all

I storm over to Eiza's room in pure rage. "Who the hell sent this?" I ask her.

"I don't know it was just in the mailbox, chill." She says while fixing her lipstick in the mirror and I try to calm down my breathing.

If it were up to me I'd make our relationship public because I really don't give a fuck. But I know if I did James would lose his job and I'd probably get kicked out of college. I've worked hard to be where I am today and I'm sure James has too. I can't let whoever is black mailing me release this photo under any circumstances.

As if on cue James calls me on my phone and I pick up after the first ring.

"Meet me at the hotel, ASAP." Is all he says before the line goes dead.

Without thinking I change out of my PJ's and grab my keys before rushing downstairs to my car. Once I reach the hotel I put my shades and hat on, seeing as there's still daylight outside and I don't want to be seen by anyone especially right now.

I meet James in the same room as last time and knock twice before he opens it and pulls me inside. He paces the room back and forth before slamming his fist against the table.

"What happened?" I ask with wide eyes. He pulls out a similar envelope and drops it in front of me on the bed. It has his name scribbled in the similar handwriting as mine and inside is the same picture but with a different text on the back.

"Who the hell is this?" He barks while tugging at his already disheveled hair.

"I have no idea, but I received the same picture." I show him mine and he curses under his breath.

"This isn't good, this is not good at all. Shit!" He mutters sounding stressed and stand up and grab his face in my hands making him calm down a bit, but not enough.

"It could be Julia..." I ponder, and he shakes his head.

"No-she'd never do something like this." He reassures me and I scoff.

"You never know, people end up surprising you." I say and he shakes his head in denial.

"I'm telling you. This isn't even in her handwriting." He says while comparing the two envelopes. He stares off into thought before looking me dead in the eyes.

"Alec." He mumbles and I almost laugh.

"Are you kidding? He's such an idiot he'd never be able to pull something like this off." He sighs knowing I'm right and shakes his head.

"We can't see each other until we figure out who's blackmailing us, Leila."

"What?" I say breathlessly, not being able to imagine a day without him. Everyday we're together I find myself getting more and more attached.

"I'm serious, no flirting, no touching, no glances across the classroom. Nothing, until further notice." He warns me sternly and my heart aches at just the thought of this torture. The blood in my veins practically boils as I clench my fists.

"Don't worry I'll find out who did this. I'll fix it." I convince him, knowing whoever is to blame for these taunting words will suffer.
