don't flatter yourself

I sit in my couch comfortably inside my dorm room, and take a bite of the Chinese takeout from last night as a movie plays on the tv in front of me.

My roommate Eiza steps out in some black high heels and a revealing dress while she puts in her hoop earrings. I look her up and down with narrowed eyes. "Where are you going?"

"To Delta Psi's big party, practically everyone is." She tells me and I roll my eyes. "You should come with me."

"I'd rather stay at home." I grumble.

"C'mon didn't you say you were trying to meet new people? Now's your chance. Plus I bet you'll find a cute guy... or two." She smirks. Little does she know, I have my eyes set on another man for now.

"I don't know. I'm just not in the mood. Maybe I'll stop by later." I say just so she'll leave already.

"Okay, just text me then." She says before heading out the door in her slutty clothes.

Eiza is naive. She goes out of her way for people and when they end up taking advantage of her, she can't seem to figure out why. I've only known her for a couple of weeks and I can already tell by the number of parties she gets blacked out at, that this will not end up good for her.

Once I'm finished with my food and my movie comes to a well known ending I open up Instagram on my phone only to be bombarded with pictures from the party.

Maybe I should stop by. I have to admit I do feel pretty shitty sitting here all by myself.

I groan when I feel myself caving but push away that voice in my head that tells me I'm no better than Eiza. I find the tightest dress in my closet and pull it on before matching it with a pair of heels. I put some concealer to mask the tired bags around my eyes and a layer of mascara paired with a classic red lip.

Once I'm standing outside of Alec's frat house I instantly regret ever coming. Since it's too late to go back I take a much needed breath and head up the steps of the large house with
blaring music.

As soon as I enter I'm bombarded with a nauseous wave of pot and alcohol. Most of the guys are shirtless and dancing against half naked girls with their frat logos painted on their chests. Music pounds viciously throughout the house making the walls practically vibrate. When I spot Alec, I'm not surprised that he's doing body shots off of a topless blonde.

As soon as he spots me he grins and approaches me with his arm around my waist.
"So you came after all, huh?" He teases.

"Don't flatter yourself, I'm here for the booze." I tell him and he laughs.

"Well, if it means anything you look...really fucking hot in that dress." He takes a good look at me, and makes sure not to miss my ass.

"I know," I smile while grabbing a random drink from the table and downing it in quick gulps. I spot a group of people looking dazed and confused on a couch nearby and furrow my brows. "What's wrong with them?

Alec chuckles before grabbing my hand and leading me further upstairs. "Let me show you." He whispers. Curiosity gets the best of me. He takes me into a different room where one of his friends is cutting up little pieces of what look like paper and handing it to people for them to stick on their tongues.

Ah yes, LSD.

"Wanna go on a trip?" He asks me while laughing a bit and I clear my throat. I don't know if I should. I heard this stuff has your tripping pretty hard, and I have class tomorrow.

I let the reckless part of me make the decision and bite my lip while turning to Alec. "Only if you'll come with."

He smirks and nods to his friend to give us each a tab. We sit down on the soft bed beside the table and I stick out my tongue for him to place it on. I close my mouth and let it dissolve slowly.

Exactly half an hour later Alec and I are rolling around on the floor in uncontrollable fits of laughter. My stomach hurts from how much I'm cracking up and I wipe tears from the corners of my eyes. I don't even remember what we were laughing about.

My body feels like a balloon after being popped. Floating aimlessly within time and space with not a care in the world, until it finally hits the floor.

Crashing.

If only the blissful hallucinations would've lasted till the next morning.
