ONE YEAR EARLIER𝓛𝓮𝓲𝓵𝓪
I'm always late.
Even when I wake up an hour before class to get ready, I still somehow manage to be rushing out of the door in a hurry.
I quickly park my car as I reach the campus, and struggle to carry my thick textbooks in one hand, and my much needed coffee in the other.
I fish out my schedule from my school bag to see which class I have first and groan when I see psychology. It's the most dreaded boring subject ever, honestly, I'm only attending so it'll fill my graduation requirements.
The sun is beaming and students who've just come back from summer vacations socialize and reunite with one another. I couldn't be more jealous.
My summer break consisted of me finding out my best friend was sleeping with my boyfriend behind my back. After cutting both of them out of my life for good, I realized that I too should start socializing so I can meet new people.
Just as I'm about to climb the stairs, a tall jock with a varsity jacket collides into me knocking my books onto the ground and causing my hot coffee to spill all over my white blouse. It stings my skin as it seeps through my clothes and I hiss in pain.
"Crap-I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" He asks in a deep worried voice.
"Don't you watch where you're going?" I snap angrily, but when I meet his eyes they're filled with regret and I instantly feel bad. He picks up my books for me and follows me as I head to the nearest bathroom.
"I didn't see you, honest. Here, let me help you"- he grabs some napkins and dabs them on my shirt but I stop him.
"It's ruined now." I sigh. He takes off his jacket and his black tee underneath, before handing it to me. My eyes roam up his toned tan chest and I bite my lip.
"You can wear this." He smiles and I shake my head before chuckling and walking into the stall to change. I come out and glance at my reflection, not too bad.
"Thanks. I guess It'll do." I laugh and so does he. "I didn't get your name..."
"Alec." He smiles with his teeth and I nod.
"Leila," I say and he licks his lips eyeing me in a flirtatious manner.
"I guess I'll see you around then." He winks and I blush lightly. He exits the bathroom and goes his own way while I rush upstairs to the lecture hall.
"Shit," I mutter as I realize I'm 10 minutes late. I hope the professor is nice and doesn't mind. I push open the metal door and a couple of eyes turn to stare at me. I try to ignore the group of girls whispering at my choice in clothes as I desperately search for an empty seat.
"Nice of you to join us." The professor turns around from the chalkboard to smile at me.
He looks like he's in this thirties, with his hair neatly slicked back. He wears a dress shirt with a tie. His sleeves are rolled up a bit showing his toned arms and as he walks down from the podium to greet me I can't help but stare at the bulge underneath his khaki's.
Who knew he would be this...hot?
I can't get my eyes off of him. I clear my throat and remember that I have to give him a good excuse for being late.
"Sorry, I had some car trouble. It won't happen again." I say quickly and looks at me skeptically before he nods.
"Your name?" He asks.
"Leila." I smile.
"Alright Leila, have a seat next to..." He checks his attendance sheet, "Alec in the second row."
I turn around and glance at none other than the same guy who spilled coffee on me this morning. He smirks in my direction and his friends snicker as they realize I'm wearing his shirt. I can only imagine what they think actually happened between us.Great.
I roll my eyes and head to my seat, completely ignoring Alec at this point.
"Who knew we'd have our first class together?" He chuckles and I scoff. I feel like taking his shirt off right now and throwing it in his smug face. And to think I thought he was a nice guy.
When I glance at the board, I finally spot the charmingly handsome man's name.
Professor Anderson.I have a feeling this class won't be so boring after all.
