keeping our distance

My body leans forward in the drivers seat of my car while I grip onto the binoculars in my hands.

Right now I'm parked a safe distance away from Julia's sister's house, which I found after doing some serious snooping online. I figured she must be the one who sent those pictures despite James insisting that she was harmless. But I guess I was wrong. After about half an hour of waiting for something interesting to happen I sigh and let out a frustrated breath. Watching her is like waiting for a snail to move.  For the past hour all she's done is clean, cook, drink wine, and cry over James like a pathetic bitch.

After another dreadful minute, I start my car and pull onto the road knowing I just wasted precious hours of my Saturday coming up with nothing. When I walk inside the dorm room I furrow my brows as I spot Eiza straddling Alec and the both of them making out sloppily on my favorite couch. They both pull away suddenly when I slam the front door closed and Alec's eyes widen at me.

"Seriously?" I snap at him and he clears his throat.

"This isn't what it looks like"- he starts to ramble but I stop him, not really caring. Honestly I couldn't expect more from Eiza either, these days she just about spreads her legs for anything that moves.

"Save it." I glare at him with menacing eyes, which he quickly takes the hint from and rushes out of our room.

"Sorry, he's just so...hot." Eiza pouts at me and I roll my eyes.

"I don't care who you associate yourself with, just keep it out of here and away from me." I tell her and she nods pretending to listen.

"It's pretty late for a work out." She brings up my excuse for running out earlier. "Or were you with that mysterious guy who you refuse to tell me about?" She smirks and I clear my throat.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh come on, these past few months you always leave the house dressing extra nice and when you return-lets just say it looks like someone wore you out." She giggles and I shake my head at her need to know everything.

"We're not seeing each other at the moment, due to some...complications." I mutter, clenching my fists unknowingly. It's been a week and I still have no idea who sent those damn pictures.

James is dead set on us keeping our distance until we know who it is and confront them, but by the recent messages from him on my phone, I can tell he's starting to cave. God knows I am, last night I practically got myself off on the mere thought of him.

Eiza eventually steps into the shower and I head into my room, completely exhausted. I throw my bag on the floor angrily and groan. I glance on my bed side table and realize she borrowed my charger again even after I told her to buy her own. I curse myself for having such an annoying roommate while storming into her room to take it back. It's a mess, her clothes are everywhere and I have no idea where to look. I hear the shower running and the soft hum of her voice from inside.

While rummaging through some of her drawers I come across one of her graded assignments from class, and scoff at the horrible grade. How she didn't get kicked out of college yet, is beyond me. I stare down at the handwriting and a dark realization dawns on me. I furrow my brows and grab the paper discreetly before heading back to my room. I pull out the picture of James and I and turn it over to compare the handwriting.

I curse underneath my breath when I realize it's the exact same. This can't be a coincidence. That worthless bitch-how dare she do this? Deep down I always knew she was jealous of me, but it's still a surprise. This is low, even for her.

My head snaps up when I hear her footsteps come out of the shower minutes later. I crumple up the paper in my hands until it's crinkled and torn.

"What do you want for dinner?" She calls out while drying her hair. My jaw clenches at her now useless facade.

This ends tonight.
