Chapter 4

I wanted to do Nicholas' pov, so here it is

Nicholas pov

Here I am, far away from home. I put in a transfer so as to leave home, where whatever I want done is because of my name. No more, no one knows me here and I'm prepared to keep it that way.

I make my way to the desk,

"Hi, I'm here to see Dr Palmer"

One of the nurses look me from top to bottom, and back again. Flirting, she asked "From?"

I get this all the time, mostly it's because of my name, but now, it's my face. I almost roll my eyes and was about to reply when I heard another voice behind me. I turn to see a blond nurse, correction, a short blond nurse. She was so small her head barely got to my chest.

"Dr Reed?" she asked,

"Yep"

"Please, come with me." I followed her, she continued talking, "Dr Palmer will be with you shortly, and Dr Gale will be the one to show you around." As she leads me to an office. She waved me inside.

I took my seat, and waited. It's been almost 10mins and the doctor isn't in yet, I was getting a bit impatient when I heard footsteps outside, then someone knocked, I was wondering why he would knock on his door when the door opened, I heard a female voice say.

"Hey Eric, Tasha, said you....... " she trailed off, expecting Palmer, but seeing me. She looked outside, then looked in the office again. I saw a dark skinned lady, short like the blond nurse, with dark curly hair, she's attractive for a nurse. She looked so serious and was staring at me way too long, just as I was staring at her as well, then I heard a throat clearing, and I saw the doctor behind her.

"What are you doing?" he asked her

She pointed to me and then pointed to him "I thought..... I mean.... You are.... He is....... Who is he again?" she stumbled with words.

The doctor raised his brows, "You've forgotten haven't you?" he asked her.

She was clearly frustrated, "What is it that I've forgotten. Im seriously getting tired of this" she sighed.

He looked to me "Sorry about that, she's had a lot going on" he explained.

"It's okay, I mean between her patients, and whatever, I'm sure she didn't mean to forget" I said mockingly just to rile her, she looked too damn serious.

"What do you mean by that" She asked angrily.

"Nothing, I mean, you must have other things to do" I replied smirking at her.

She narrowed my eyes at me, "Don't try to get cute with me Ivashkov" She actually growled at me.

I opened his mouth to ask her who the hell's Ivashkov, when Eric (Dr Palmer I'm guessing) interrupted

"Ashley, meet Dr Nicholas Reed, the cardiologist" he introduced.

Her eyes widened, "that's impossible" she spluttered, like she couldn't believe it.

"What do you mean that's impossible" the doctor asked.

I stare at her hoping for an explanation, "Yes, what do you mean?" I asked as well.

"No offence Ivashkov, but you look too pretty to be useful" she explained "I mean, look at him. Does he look like a doctor to you Eric?" she asked him.

I take offence but I don't let it show when I answer her "None taken, but who the hell's Ivashkov?" I asked both of them

Eric shrugged, and she said "A character in a novel I'm currently reading, you look like I'd picture him in reality" she shrugged.

I nodded like I knew what she's saying. "Okay, so what's your position here Ashley?" I asked trying to get to know her.

She looked at Eric before she answered me "I'm a doctor as well, and from what I gathered or remember" she said glaring at Eric "I'll be in charge of showing you around"

Eric looked elsewhere and don't meet her eyes, before what she said registered to me, and then I remembered what the blond nurse said Dr Gale will be the one to show you around.

"Wait, you're Dr Gale?" I asked dumbfounded. Wow, I did not see that coming, she, a doctor?

"Yes, I am. Don't tell me you're that type that thinks women can't amount to anything?" she asked skepticaly.

My eyes widened a bit "No, not at all. Don't take it the wrong way. I just thought, well, that Dr Gale will be a guy"

She shook her head, then faced Eric "Do I have to be with him today" She said jabbing a finger in my direction. "I have an outing with the girls"

"Just take him along. What harm can he cause"

"It's just that, we're girls and we tend to talk about guys when we're together" she said "That's the whole point of girls night out" she raised a brow.

"Please Ash, there's nothing for him to do here today" he pleaded.

Look at them talking as if I'm not here. "You do know i'm sitting right here, right?" I let them know.

She sighed dramatically "Fine, but you get to explain to Tasha, why there's gonna be a guy included in our outing" she said ignoring me.

"That's not a problem" Eric started to move "Let's go find Tasha." And they're gone, leaving me in the office by myself.

What have I gotten myself into?
