The next morning, I woke up to an empty bed (having a sense of Deja vu), I shook my head and rummaged through my bedside cupboard for my phone or anything (a note, maybe) he might have left, then went to the kitchen for a glass of water, then I remembered what happened last night.

Flashback
I got to my door and waited for him to open the door. When I went in, he said

"So, I've done my good deed for tonight, see you Monday" he said and turned to leave.

I pulled him inside, closed the door and pushed him against it.

"No you're not. You still have one more thing to do" and then before I regret my decision, I kiss him. He was shocked for a few seconds, then he took over and reversed our position, now I'm the one against the door, he pulled from me and said

"You're drunk, and will probably regret this tomorrow"

"I'm not so wasted, I wanted to get out of there early. Are you gonna do this or not, or I can go find someone else" I say clearly.

I know he wants this, but he's trying to be a gentleman. "I don't know why you want to find someone, when I'm already here"

"Then shut up and kiss me"

Present

I can't believe I did that, but it happened, besides he left early this morning without a single word or note.

"Jerk" I mumbled

I was still mumbling to my self when my phone rang

"Tasha, I thought I said no calls" I groaned.

"I know, but you have to come in. It's important." I heard the seriousness in her tone.

"What is it" I ask

"Just come to the hospital," She replied then hung up.

What is going on.

....................

I entered the hospital looking for Tasha, when I saw her talking to another nurse. I called her.

"Hey, what's wrong, why did you call me like that"

"I couldn't tell you because......" she pointed to someone familiar talking to Nick "He told me not to"

I remembered what happened between us, and then I saw the person she meant.

What is Andrew doing here?  I ask myself.

Then he turned round and I saw worry on his face, I made my way to him, ignoring Nick, I ask

"What going on?" I whispered not wanting Nick to know my relationship with the guy.

"It's dad, it's his heart" he whispered.

I sucked in air, and took his arm, dragged him far away from Nick.

"I heard that the best cardiologist  just got transferred here, if not I wouldn't......."

I interrupted him "It's fine, what did the doctor say" I said looking at Nick still standing where we left him.

"That he's gonna need a transplant, but now he needs blood and they've run out" He runs his hand through his hair, something he does when he's agitated. "Can you believe that"

"You know his blood type is rare. I'll see what I can do." I beckoned Tasha over "Why don't you go and sit in my office, Tash will take you there"

"Sure, just let me know. Please"

"Will do, by the way, where's Carol?" I glanced around but didn't see her.

"She's not here yet, but she's on her way."

"Okay, let me talk to the doc" I ruffled his hair, and as usual, he hit my hand, laughing I said "I'll see you in a bit"

I was dreading the coming conversation, i sucked in air, watching Tash and Drew leaving but I made my way to Nick anyways.

"Hey Ivashkov, what's up?"

He didn't reply, ignoring me, he tried to pass by me.

"Hey, Are you trying to ignore me?" I tried again, this time, I grabbed his arm before he can escape.

"Really, that's all you have to say?" he replies

"What do you want me to say?" I sighed

"I don't know, apologize?" he said to me raising one eyebrow.

"For what? I'm not going to apologize for anything"

"Do you even remember, or you just want to act like nothing happened?" He said angrily.

"Exactly, nothing happened. Besides, you left without a note or without saying goodbye" I replied.

"Maybe because I got an early call, and in case you didn't notice, I'm still in the same clothes I wore yesterday"

"Fine, I'm sorry I fell asleep last night" I apologized finally after noticing his outfit and continued "l don't know what happened. I'm sure that has never happened to you before, huh?"

He shook his head, and said "As much as I would love to continue this conversation, I have a patient to take care of" he excused himself.

I wanted to call him back and tell him I wanna help, but the words just got stuck. Finally, after standing there for what felt like forever, I made my way to my office. I entered and he looked up,

"Well, anything?" he asked hopefully

"I got an idea. Tasha, please can you go get a blood bag, an empty one, I want you to take my blood"

"Are you sure, you should go there so they can do it themselves" she told me

"I don't want them to know my relationship with him. You're the only one I trust with this." I pleaded.

Seeing the look in my eyes, she nodded. "I'll be right back." she sighed.

I sat down exhaling, Drew looked at me, and said "Are you okay? I don't want to be a bother"

"You're never a bother. I love you very much, and I'll do whatever it takes to make you happy, you know that"

"Even save him?" he asked

"Yes, even that."

"I don't know how you can do that for him, when he didn't acknowledge you......"

"Stop, I'm not doing this for him" I interrupted him "I'm doing it for you and Carol. I know how much he means to you" I said.

He open his mouth to reply, but Tasha came him that moment.

"Did anyone see you" i asked

"Seriously, you had to ask that?" She asked with one eyebrow raised.

"Sorry, let's start then" I told her sheepishly.

She cleaned the inside of my wrist, to prepare me for the transfusion. After successfully inserting the needle, the blood began to flow into the bag.

While waiting, we talked about several things, life with my brother, work, girlfriend/girlfriends. Not long the bag was filled and Tash removed the bag and replaced it with another, it's better to be prepared.

Moments later, with both bags filled, I told her to go give them to Nick but not to tell him where they're from. She nodded and left.

I felt a little lightheaded, sat beside my brother and smiled at him.

"It's going to be alright" I assure him.

I lay down putting my head on his lap. He began to play with my hair like he always does when we were kids, I felt myself falling asleep. I think I might have heard someone knocking, and  I heard a faint voice.

"Come in"

And everything faded to black.
