Chapter 3

"What did you do!?" Bonnie jumps off the floor and goes face to face with Damon.

"Bon come on what was I to do." He asks.

"Guide her through this not make her run for the hills." Bonnie hisses hand gesturing to the door.

"I couldn't take it bon! I'd rather her hate me than being broken by me!" He says.

"Well shit...I nearly forgot how selfish you could be!" Bonnie shakes her head and leaves the room. Kai follows her, not wanting to be left alone with the vamp that is looking to the wall.

"So care to share?" Kai asks Bonnie, who is frantically searching through the house.

"I need to find something dear to her, make a locator spell and fix this mess!" She gritts.

"That's not what I meant but interesting. Now lets talk about why all of the sudden the worlds greatest couple is broken off." Kai says with a grin, proud of himself for referring to Damon and Hope as a couple.

Bonnie stops what she is doing and looks at kai. She opens her mouth but Damon's voice cuts her off.

"It was 6 years ago...I needed a whitch to do a spell for me...you must mind at the time Bonnie hated my guts-"

"still do!" Bonnie cuts in crossing her arms and lets herself fall into the single sofaseat.

Damon roles his eyes and walks to the fireplace. "At the time I had a very short temper and an even worse way to handle Situations...hopes mom fell victim to both." He says shoving his hands into his pockets.

"Long story short, i was at her porch and tried for the millionth time to convince her to help me but she stayed stubborn. Wouldn't even invite me in. I lured her out and before she could blink I pushed my hand through her chest. When she fell hope was standing at the end of the hall. Man I'll never forget her eyes.." Damon huffs with a weak smile "she looked at me that way today." He shakes his head.

"What happened next?" Kai asks.

"Well I turned and left! I didn't care about no damn kid! Until Elena got the bright idea to take her in being all 'I lost my parents and know how it is' eventually we compelled her to forget and with time she grew on me. I always tried to keep my distance but she kept on pushing, kept on getting on my nerves 'til the day she didn't anymore. And She became my best bud." Damon chuckles through his nose.

"Deamn I understand her!" Kai says pushing of the couch.  "And now that we speak of it, how is Damon less of an monster than I am?" Kai asks looking at Bonnie perplexed.

Both Bonnie and Damon roll their eyes and leave the room. Kai shrugs and walks to the bed Hope had laid in. His eyes drift over the space were the sheets were disturbed and stained with blood and inside he feels this strange warmth again. After a while he shrugs and throws himself into the exact spot and puts his hands behind his head, closing his eyes with a small smile.

"I thought we didn't hate each other anymore bon bon." Damon calls After Bonnie who walks few meters ahead.

"That was before you showed me that you, Damon Salvatore, haven't changed a bit!" Bonnie yells angrily turns around while still walking  and turns back after a few steps.

"Why do I have to come with you? This is torture!" Kai whines, a few paces behind Damon.

"Shut it twerp. We wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for you!" Damon hisses, stoping to grab Kai by his collar, making his feet lift of the ground so that only the tips of his converse scratch against the dusty ground.
