Hope and the Beast ( a Vampire Diaries fanfiction)

Chapter 2

They ley Hope on Damons kingsized bed, while Kais dead body is unceremoniously thrown into a corner. 3 hours later, he starts to stirr but Hope has not shown any signs of life yet.

"How kind." Kai says noting where he was lying.

Bonnie lets out an choked sob  with Hopes head lying on her thigh. Kai stands up and walks to the foot of the bed.

"Why is she not up yet?! She...died...before you" Damon gritts struggling at the word 'died', looking at kai with fire in his eyes.

"I..I don't know. Maybe because the damage is Server than mine was." Kai says rubbing his stiff neck. "Wow i need a drink. My throat feels like sandpaper." He adds.

Damon stands up "I hope for you that you're right. If not I'm going to torture you back and forth for eternity." He hisses with Klenched fists and leaves the room.

Kai and Bonnie are left alone and she breaks the silence afte 5 minutes.

"You disgust me." She says through tears, one hand brushing through Hopes hair. She was still covered in  blood. There was blackish blood dried on her face, that came out of her nose.  Her lips were also covered in dry blood.

"I did not plan that it would turn out like this." Kai says and is shocked at his own words. Bonnie gives him a death glare as Damon steps in with a bowl of water and a wet rag. Kai moves to the wall opposite of the bed and leans against it . Damon puts down the bowl and wrings the rag.

"she shouldn't see herself like this when she wakes." He says to Bonnie with a sad smile. Bonnie nods frantically holding back a sob, trying to smile also. He softly wipes the blood trail from her nosebleed away. Kai gritts his teeth at the rock in his stomach, which he can't explain. Damon cleans her completely and throws the rag into the now red tinted water. He leans down and kisses Hopes forehead and traces her eyebrow with his thumb.

"There you are buddy. Now open those blue eyes for me will ya?" He says and clutches the sheets next to her hand.

A loud crack is heard in the room and Kai pushes of the wall in surprise. An other crack follows and Hopes leg jerks. 

"What's happening?!" Bonnie screams in panic and shifts Hope further up her lap.

Again a sickening crack and her chest jerks forward, then to the side as another follows.

"Her bones are setting." Damon says in delight laced with horror. Funny look on a hundert year old vamp.

"Huh. So that's how it looks like." Kai says watching closely. He could never witness his own resurrection.

A series of more cracks are heard, they already lost count but the clock says 15 minutes had passed. Then it all stops and for a while nothing happens.

Kai takes another step closer as Hopes eyes start to move under her eyelids and Bonnie huffs a teary laugh while Damon touches his forehead to hers. Kai also feels like a Weight has been lifted off of him, but of course only because now Damon won't torture him for the rest of his life. Or so he tries to tell himself.

"See! Told you she'll live" Kai smirks but they ignore him.

"Sweety can you hear me?" Bonnie asks through her new happy tears.

"Come on! Time to rise!" Damon says impatiently and Bonnie shoves at his shoulder playfully. Kai nearly stops breathing as her eyes open but seam to be an lifeless grey. Damon and Bonnie also frown but then the vibrant blue flows back into the irises.

"Hey..." Bonnie whispers smiling into Hopes eyes.

Hope closes her eyes again and brings her forearm over her eyes "to bright!" She whines weakly.
