"I'm going away..." she said.

"W-What do you mean?" I asked. "My dad got a job in Canada. He wants me to go with him," she replied.

In shock and grief, I yelled, "No! You can't do this, you can't leave me! It won't be the same without you Dane..."

She hugged me tight as I poured my eyes out. She let go of me, and I said, "When are you leaving?"

"After graduation... that won't be until the end of the year, so no goodbye's just yet Ok?" she softly said, lifting my head up.

As I saw her wonderful smile, it seemed to give me hope. And her eyes, those eyes that showed the sweetest sadness. "No goodbye's..." I replied, hugging her once again.

The next day, everything seemed normal again. However I couldn't shake off the sad feeling I had, that was going to miss Dane so much.

But, I had the whole year to spend with her, before she leaves. Nobody knows how much I love Dane.

I just hide it all inside, keeping it bottled up inside of me. I really just wanted to tell her, but I couldn't...

As Dane told everything the sad news, they all looked at me. They knew I was the only closest person to Dane. I looked back at them all with a sad face.

"No, you can't do this" Dave said, in a low voice. "You can't just abandon us like this. It's just so cruel. You can't just leave us like this, you can't leave Jess."

Dave's really nice, and cares for me like I'm his sister. "Dave, stop.

She already feels bad for leaving. Besides ... It's Ok. I can survive without her, we all can,"

Everyone was stunned to hear what I said. I know I don't usually talk like this, but I know that Dane feels bad for leaving us, and telling her off is just making her feel worse. Then the bell rang for third class, and I left immediately.

Since Dane would be leaving at the end of graduation, I decided to try and make this year the best year for her.

During lunch break, I announced to the group a day out to the beach next week. "Oh yeah! That's a great idea, we should all go! I'm going to invite Zoe!" Maddie yelled. The four of them agreed on my idea.

The following week later, we all met up at the station and headed to the beach. As we were on the train, I expected this day would cheer everyone up, mainly Dane.

When we arrived at the beach, there was no sign of clouds, just the big bright sun in the middle of the sky. The waves were warm and calm.

"Well, c'mon, what're you all waiting for?" Maddie yelled as she ran towards to ocean with Zoe.

Suddenly, just as I was about to follow, Dane grabbed my hand and led me to a secret place. It was like a mini cave, on top of a small, rocky cliff.

For some reason, this place looked familiar. Then, I remembered Dane and I used to go here to draw on the walls, to show how we feel.

Then as we walked into the small cave, I saw all the carvings on the walls. It brought back so many memories. "Do you remember, when we used to come here as kids? And we used to draw things to show how we truly feel?" she asked, picking up a rock form the ground.

"Yeah, you used to draw such silly things" I replied, with a grin. "Yeah, well now I'm drawing something, so show how I feel about you."

As she moved towards a wall, and started to draw with the rock she picked up, I was so eager to find out what she was drawing. After a while, she turned around, and I saw a picture of two people holding hands, and a love heart.

"I can't find the words to say how I feel about you, this is the only way I can say it" Dane remarked.

She slowly walked towards me, and held my hands. I was speechless. She leaned forward, and as she was about to kiss me, but someone walked in.

We quickly moved away from one another, and when I looked to the entrance I saw Mafe.

"Oooh, um... am I interrupting?" she asked.

"Uh no, we were just about to leave," Dane responded.

"Yeah that's right," I added, as we walked out together.

When we got back to the beach, Maddie and I found some shells. I intended to make a necklace for Dane, for a going away present, even though she wasn't leaving for another 11 months.

Maddie wanted to make a necklace for Zoe, for their 8th month anniversary. At the end of the day, as we began to head home, I sat on the train side by side with Dane. I looked into the ocean, and I knew I would never forget this day.

A/N: so, what's gonna happen next?
