"Addison, what are you doing?" I look over to see her stacking cups into a large tower on the table.
"I'm bored. Also, does this look beautiful? I call it, cuptopia city."
I glance at her stack of cups, "no."
A look of hurt was spread across her face. "You're so mean." She mumbled.
"No, I'm just tired."
"You guys!" We both turn our heads to see Kelly on the other side of the counter. "Can you please hurry, I don't want any of us to be late for the Halloween party."
Addison gasps, "I almost forgot!" She quickly slides the cups down into singular stacks. That was fast.
"Hey Will, what are you going as?"
"Benji wanted me to dress as a guy named Jeremy from a musical, but I said no."
"Why?"
"Cause I've never seen it before. I'm not going as someone I don't know."
"You're so stubborn."
I smile. "I know, I get that a lot."
"So what are you going as then?"
"Just a vampire I guess."
"Oh, the classic card I see." I let out a heavy sigh, but before I could respond to him, someone had to interrupt me.
"Hey, spooky!" Benji yelled while opening the doors, and causing Addison to screech across the room.
She coughs, "sorry. You just scared me." She then lets out a nervous laugh.
Benji adjusted the headphones around his neck. "Sorry Addi." He let out a short chuckle. "Hey, Willie." He jumped in front of me then wrapped his arms around my neck. "Still not gonna change your mind about your costume?"
"No."
"Why? We were going to be the perfect duo at the party." He whined.
"I told you already, I've never seen the musical."
"Well let's watch it now. Come on! Let's go!" He tugs at my sleeve.
"We only have 20 minutes to get ready, and musicals are usually like, what, two hours."
He paused. "We'll skip the annoying parts."
I let a sigh, "no."
"You're so mean to me."
"Don't worry Ben, he's just tired." Addison mocked me. So I gave her a glare in return. "Kelly we're done!" I place the broom back in the closet before heading to the locker room, with Benji tailing behind.
I felt his eyes on me as I was unlocking my locker door. "I'm not changing my mind, Benji. We can go as a duo next year."
"But that's like, three hundred and sixty-four days away," he gripped my work shirt from behind. "Please William, for me?" Why does he have to whine so much? He's making me feel guilty.
I turn around and grab a hold of his red hoodie and pull him in. My lips press against his. He was shocked at first since we hardly ever give each other affection by kissing and I'm never the one who starts it. But I guess today is an exception. He slowly gripped the ends of my white button-up shirt and tugs at it gently while kissing back. One of his hands slowly goes behind my head and laces into my hair. My back then presses against the cold grey locker doors. I pull away, "you whine too much." My face burning with a passion along with his.
