Lucy's POV---
I was halfway making my way down the stairs when Alfred showed up.
"Mistress Lucy, may I ask why are you up?"
"I wanted to come down and check to see if we had heard from Bruce."
"I'm afraid not," He walked up the stairs, "Let me."
I linked my arm with his and used the other to hold onto the railing.
"Do you think that he found him?"
"Probably."
We reached the bottom of the stairs.
"wouldn't he let us know then?"
"Even though I have known Master Bruce for quite some time, I still can never predict his next move. Especially when it comes to his family."
He took me outside to walk around the property.
"If the way he took Master Todd's death is a clue to how he's taking Master Damian's death, He will never be at peace."
"Jason?"
"Yes, I do believe It is the reason Master Bruce doesn't want Damian to be resurrected, because he remembers what it did to Master Todd."
I didn't want to ask. The mention of Jason's death seemed to make Alfred uncomfortable.
"Alfred?"
"yes?"
"I feel like I'm not missing Damian as much as I should."
"And how much should one miss him?"
"You know, completely wrapped in it, Mourning every minute without him."
"Everyone deals with loss differently Mistress Lucy."
"I just don't miss him. But I do, But I just feel happy, hopeful."
"Master Damian would want that for you, He wouldn't want you to just sit around missing him. He'd want you to live."
"How would you know? Everyone says that."
"He loved you very much, He always talked about you and all his hopes, dreams and plans."
"I'd have a hard time believing that if it was anyone else saying that. He respected you Alfred."
"I loved him like one of my own."
"We're your family Alfred, we all love you too."
He smiled.
Tim's POV--
I walked over to the window. Alfred and Lucy were laughing as they walked around the house. It made me smile to see her smile.
I turned to see the the Wayne Family portrait. Damian's face was all that stood out to me. He wasn't even smiling. He reminded me so much of Bruce. If anyone was capable of taking on the mantle of Batman, it was Damian. No one cared as much as Damian.
It was an unspoken part of the job. Of the duty we swore ourselves into. Behind every mask and cape. Death was always there, waiting. There was no escape. Damian knew the risk. And really in the end, there was nothing left to say but, "goodbye." Goodbye, to the world we fought so hard to protect, a world that some gave our lives' for.
I could see him now, "Really Drake, pull yourself together, You didn't die, I did."
He crossed his arms, "You don't have to pretend to miss me, fake the sadness Drake. We never got along. Hell, I took Robin from you. It's all yours I don't want it anymore."
"Damian, we all miss you."
"No. Tell me the truth Tim. "
I looked at the ground, "Fine, You should have never come here. Robin, that mantle was not yours to carry. You'd still be alive Damian. It should have been me." I turned away from him.
"Oh the knight in shining armor. God Tim."
"You shouldn't have been there." I turned and pointed at him, "You were told to stay. Why couldn't you."
"True." He just stood there.
"Everything I did was for us. This game. We're just pieces in this twisted game. I just wanted to protect us. "
"Then do it Tim, protect us." he pulled me into a hug, "Protect us. Protect her."
"Master Tim. Are you okay?" I looked to the entrance of the Library.
"Alfred, yeah. I'm fine."
"Tim." Lucy unlinked from his arm, "You've been crying."
I hadn't even noticed. I couldn't say anything.
"It's in times like these, Master Tim," Alfred came towards me, "That we all should look to each other for our strength."
Lucy came and grabbed my hand. All I could do was look at her and smile.
