Lucy's POV--
My eyelids felt heavy. As I blinked sharp rays of light came through causing me to squint. I opened them all the way, I looked around. I was in a very blatantly white hospital room. I tried to lift my left arm but it wouldn't budge. My right arm was no better, But it had enough strength to reach out and it the "call" button.
"Lucy. You're awake." I looked over and saw Bruce sitting in the corner.
His face was covering relief as he moved the chair closer to me.
"Why?"
"What?" He grabbed my hand.
"Why..did..you do it?" I readjusted my head to look at him, "Why did you bring me back?"
Complete defeat washed over him.
"Lucy, I couldn't lose you too. You were the only thing that Damian loved in this world. I lost him." He squeezed my hand, "I couldn't lose the one piece of him that's left."
"I saw him Bruce," tears gathered in my eyes, "He told me to come. He told me that you would be fine without me. "
"You saw him? Damian?"
"Yes," I attempted to nod, "he was very present. He looked happy. Happier than I have ever seen him. Bruce. I could feel him. I touched him. He was there. I saw him."
The tears streamed down my face.
"Lucy, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." For the first time since I have known Bruce I saw him cry.
"I know. I know you didn't mean it."
"I didn't." He put his head in his other hand.
"Pardon the interruption Master Bruce." Alfred peeked his head in, "I got the release."
"The release?"
"You can come home. If we have constant supervision on you and a nurse on hand."
"Really? But what about?"
"We proved Alfred's credentials. He's your nurse. We're good"
I smiled.
"It's nice to see you Alfred." I wiped the tears from my eyes.
"I must agree Mistress Lucy." He smiled at me.
"Where's Tim? Dick? Jason?"
"Jason, he went out on his own when we left. Dick is at home. Tim is on patrol."
"I think this all has affected them in different ways."
"It has. And losing you would have made things worth. Little do you know you have made just a big of impact as Damian has on this family."
"I know." He squeezed my hand again.
