"Please introduce yourself to the class."

"Why?" I asked boredly and the professor brisled. This was the third time I had asked him why I should introduce myself to the class. Both Yuuki and Yori looked exasperated, while Zero in the back was fighting off a dry smile.

"Because your classmates need to know your name." He said irritably and I yawned, inspecting my pink nails.

"No they don't. They do not need to know my name, they just want to. I do not feel the need to introduce myself to a bunch of people I do not know nor care about. Therefore if you want to tell them my name, you can." I scoff and I swear a vein pops in his forehead.

"Please take your seat in the back Next to Zero, Miss Amara Koizumi." He said through grinding teeth. I sighed.

"Bossy. Fine, i'll sit down but don't be surprised if I fall asleep, your voice is extremely annoying to listen too." I snark and his face was extremely red. He grumbled something inaudible to himself and turned to the board, angrily writing down todays assignment.

I trudge back to my seat next to Zero, who completely ignored me. I pinched his cheek to see if it'd earn a reaction. It didn't. I pulled on his ear, twisted his nose, and was coming extremely close to poking his eye when the professor cleared his throat right next to me.

"What?" I asked in annoyance.

"What are you doing?" He asked, trying to remain as calm as possible when speaking.

"Zero gets angry easily, the thing is he doesn't blow up or show it all that well, instead he'll just go hide to cool off. But he can't cause he's in class, so i'm trying to see how long it'll take to make him yell at me." I say and wave him off. "Don't worry you'll know when it happens, go back to teaching." I say dismissively.

"I really don't think that's a good-" Yuuki started but I cut her off with a dangerous glare.

"Shut up annoying child, I swear your like a ladybug, all I want to do is squash you." I snap at her and she shrinks back.

"Amara!" Yori said quickly. "Please sit down and stop interrupting class." She begged and I scowled at her, kicking my feet up on my desk and smirked at the boys wandering gazes before responding.

"No." I replied. The professor looked ready to send me to the headmaster to get expelled when the door was opened a young girl with shoulder length brown hair and green eyes walked in. I instantly knew who she was.

"Excuse me but my teacher wanted to know what the commo-" She cut off when her eyes found me and widened in both fear and shock. I narrowed mine on her, a slow sadistic grin spreading on my face.

"This girl continues to interrupt my class, please tell your teacher I will be sending her to the headmaster in a moment!" He says strictly and she nods while keeping her eyes on me.

"Hello Kiera." I tell her, walking towards her gracefully and she took a step backwards.

"A-Amara! P-please don't kill me!" She shrieked and bolted out of the classroom. My grin widened even more. I turned to the professor and class and bowed.

"Excuse me for a moment. I have some business to take care of." I say and run out of the door after the retreating Kiera. Which wasn't hard, I caught up to her in seconds, gripping her shoulder tightly and she quivered in fright.

"Don't kill me, please! I'll do anything." She pleaded, eyes watering. I sneered at her and shoved her roughly, sending her sprawling to the ground.

"Why shouldn't I kill you?" I snapped, Opal eyes flashing, my pupils turning into cat-like slits before returning to normal, my nails growing into sharp claws and then forcefully I retracted them back into normal fingernails and licked my lips, forcing my teeth to become normal instead of the row of pointed tips they'd become.

"Because i'm your niece!" She insisted fearfully, scooting backwards as she tried to get away from me.

"Yes, my niece. An Abomination." I hissed and she flinched. "My sweet darling sister just had to fall in love with a human, trade her tail for feet, have a kid, and live happily ever after out of the sea!" I snapped. "I thought I told you to never show your face around me." I say threateningly.

"B-but I w-was here first! I didn't know you were going to be here!" She squeaked as she barely missed the icicle that had popped up from the ground, right where her head had been just seconds before. I stopped and thought about it and sighed.

"I suppose that's true." I say grudgingly. She let out a small sound of relief.

"W...why do you have legs? D-did you-" She started but I cut her off.

"Like I would ever fall in love with a human." I said acidly, shooting her a vicious look. "If you must know, you annoying prat I messed with the wrong girl's boyfriend and pissed off a witch. She cursed me with legs and took away my tail. But that doesn't mean I can't cut you to pieces if you annoy me." I say and she gulps.

"But why are you at Cross Academy?" She asks.

"Why are you?" I shot back. She stood up, assuming that for now I wasn't going to kill her painfully, but her knees still shook and she kept her distance.

"Dad's old, um he's in a nursing home." She said with a nervous shrug. My eyes flashed once more.

"Hmm your father...how is the ignorant, old fool?" I asked, poison seeping into every word. Despite her complete terror of me her eyes flashed angerily.

"It's not his fault!" She shouted and in two seconds I had her by the neck, her toes barely touching the ground.

"It is his fault." I insisted. "He knew that the place for a mermaid was the ocean and yet he convinced her to stay!" I yelled. She struggled against my hold.

"He didn't know she would die! He thought that since she had human legs..." She faltered.

"He knew!" I screamed, shaking her.

"No, he didn't! He regrets it all the time Amara!" She said desperately. I loosened my grip and let her fall to the ground. I laughed bitterly.

"Right, he feels guilty about killing her. He should. When a mermaid falls in love...even if it's with another mermaid, they gain human legs and have the ability to walk on land, but eventually they'll have to go back to the water or they'll die. But she chose to stay anyway!" I said venomously.

"That was mom's choice." She said quietly and I whipped around, the back of my hand meeting her human flesh. She crumbled to the ground, letting out a little scream as she held her cheek in her hand, tears streaming down her face.

"Do not ever blame her for it. It is both of your faults! Your father and the half-breed child. She loved the ocean, she told me she was coming back, she promised! But instead she was practically ordered to stay with him and you." I whispered dangerously, water particles in the air freezing with my flare of anger. Her gaze softened.

"You're hurt." She said softly and I scoffed.

"I'm a mermaid, I don't feel pain." I said and turned on my heel.

"Then why did you let me live Amara, all those years ago? Or now? You did it for her didn't you?" She asked and I remained quiet for a minute.

"I let you live because i'd be wasting my own time killing you. In fact i'm wasting my time even standing here talking to you. Get out of my sight and stay out of my way." I ordered. Silently she stood up, still holding her reddened cheek and walked right past me slowly and too the school. I stood their in the trees for a minute, clenching my fists and trying to regain some of my composure.

Finally with a sigh of relief I started back to the dorms.
