At the speed my dad is driving, we might attract the attention of the police. The anxious feeling in my gut just won't cease to stop, since I am grabbing the oh-shit handle. What would Katelyn be angry about? As far as I know, I've never lied to her about anything. That, in itself, is something I won't ever live down till the day I die.
"Damn!" My dad's sudden exclamation startled me a bit.
(y/n): "Um...dad? Don't you think you should slow down?" I did not realize how panicked my voice was.
He took a bit to think and eased his foot off of the gas. We pulled into a nearby park. Once parked, dad turned off the car. We stepped out to the semi-cool weather, taking in the environment. From where we were, there were chatters of people doing their business, along with the occasional bark of a dog.
"Dad, is there something wrong?" I asked him, leaning back against the front fence. He just sighed.
"Son, I've never told you much about your mother, have I?" He started, sounding a bit remorseful.
(y/n): "I'm not sure you did. All I know is that she did something terrible in front of me." I was reluctant to get angry.
(Kiran/(f/n)): "Oh, right. I never thought about it beforehand, but-" His phone rang and he checked the id.
(Kiran/(f/n)): "Hold on a moment, I need to take this."
He went off to the side as I stared at the sky above. The navy blue of the starry night was calming. My thoughts were back on Katelyn. I felt like I had failed her. What did I lie to her about? Was it something that I did that she somehow came to know? I just sighed quietly, taking out my phone. Nothing, just my lock screen of Katelyn and I. The worry of what might happen next is the issue.
(Kiran/(f/n)): "Son? You coming?"
(y/n): "Oh, right. Let's go."
We entered the car again and went on our way to Katelyn's house. I texted Katelyn, "Whatever it was that made you angry, I'm sorry." Was that the right thing to do? Of course it was. Will it solve anything? Probably not. I just want us to talk this through and know why she's angry with me to clear this up.
(Kiran/(f/n)): "(Y/n), you all right? You've been quiet throughout this ride."
(y/n): "I'm worried about Katelyn right now. She's upset with me right now and...I don't know why."
(Kiran/(f/n)): "Well we'll see when we get there, right?"
(y/n): "Dad, what happened to you being strict?"
(Kiran/(f/n)): "I'm sorry about that. Since you told me that Katelyn wanted you over to her house, I had to let it go. Eric had told her something that I never wanted to say to you until the time was right."
(y/n): "What would that be?"
Dad was quiet for a while before he gulped.
(Kiran/(f/n)): "It's a bit difficult for me to say right now, but I'll tell you when we get there."
(y/n): "All right..."
(Kiran/(f/n)): "One thing, don't lose yourself when you hear it, okay?"
(Y/n): "I'll try my best."
We arrived at Katelyn's house and pulled into the driveway behind their car. Once the engine was turned off, I became very anxious and glanced to dad. He just nodded. I reluctantly nodded back.
"Let's do this," I said to him.
We walked up to the door and I knocked on it. My hands started shaking. My heart was picking up its pace. Dad was standing beside me, a hand being put on my shoulder. I flicked my ears as the door opened to reveal Kacey. The surprise on his face was kinda hilarious.
