It took hours to get the music together and to get it right. Now, it was time for everyone else to hear the lyrics to this song that Mike wrote. The music began playing and he began singing.

If I ever get to Saginaw again
A locale that's somewhat off the beaten track
Get to see the girl I never saw again
Who must know I  why I never ventured back

Peter, Savy and Micky were impressed at this song and how good it sounded.

We were young, and so alive
And now I wonder if she'd cling to me
Become my very own as she did then
If I ever get to Saginaw again

After Mike finished the song, the rest of the monkees were smiling at how good the song sounded.

"Wow Mike. You did a good job with the lyrics."

Thanks Davy. With just a little more practice, we can play it at gigs."

"Yeah. How often you wanna practice Mike?"

"Several times a week at least."

Peter put his guitar down and walked over to the back door. "Hey anyone wanna go to the beach with me?"

"I'll go. What about you Micky? Mike?"

"Nah. I'm good man. I still got some stuff I wanna do." Mike said as he walked upstairs to his bedroom.

"Micky?"

"Yeah. Sure. I'll go."

They each got ready for the beach. As Micky was leaving his room he asked Mike: "You sure you'll be fine by yourself?"

"Come on Mick. I'm a grown man. And plus you will only be 500 yards away. What could go wrong?"

"Never ever say that Mike. Don't jinx it."

Mike smiled and gave a chuckle. "I'm not gonna jinx it. Your just paranoid."

"So maybe I am a little. I worry too. I'm only human."

"I've noticed. Listen, buddy, it's been several weeks. No need to watch over me anymore although I do appreciate it. Thanks for that."

"Okay. Stay safe Mike."

"Micky. I'm at the pad. Nothing could go wrong."

"Alright I'm gone."

Mike waves at Micky and turned around at his desk and he tried to think of how he wanted to edit the song so it could sound a tad bit better.

After what felt like a few hours, he decided to go and have some fun like everyone else. He walked to the beach in his blue shorts and jacket to match the shorts.

"Hey Mike. Glad you could join us." Micky said. He was laying in the sun right next to Peter who was buried in the sand with his head sticking out.

"Micky, what in the world did you do to Peter?"

"Oh, nothing. He asked for it."

"How? What did Peter do?"

"No. He literally asked for it."

"Oh. Well in that case, your off the hook."

"Thanks man." Micky said putting his head right next to Peter's.

"Hey Mick can you get me out of here now?"

"Sure buddy." Micky dug up Peter and helped him up.

Davy approached from behind scaring Micky and Peter.

"Don't do that." Micky said as Davy sat down right next to them.

Meanwhile on the other side of Malibu

Man #1: "We need to get him when he doesn't expect it."

Man #2: "But sir. How do we do that?"

Man #1: "I'm not sure. I'll think of a way. Just give me a few minutes will ya."

Man #2: "Yes sir."

Back at the pad

All four monkees had come back to the pad from the beach. One by one they collapsed in their bed. It was around 8pm. To them it was early. They all had kinda a long day. And they were all beat.

Davy and Peter were the first ones to fall asleep, then Micky, but Mike stayed awake. He just had too much going through his mind. He sat back up and went downstairs so he wouldn't have to hear Micky snoring.

It had been a good 2 hours. Now it was 10pm and Mike was finally getting tired. So, he walked upstairs and shut the door.

He stopped walking once he heard something downstairs. He didn't know it was. At first he thought it was e in the Peter or Davy. But the noise continued and he knew they wouldn't make that much noise knowing Micky is asleep.

Mike opened the door and looked over the edge of the staircase. It was pitch black so he couldn't see anything. He had the option of staying in his room, or investigating what the noise was. Then he heard it again.

He walked quietly down the stairs and turned on the lamp. It had looked like someone burglarized the bottom half of the pad. There was stuff everywhere. Chairs were overturned, the couch was in a different spot. Their instruments were everywhere. It's a miracle none of them were broken.

Mike began to clean up the place when he heard Davy's voice: "What happened down 'ere?"

"Don't ask me Davy. I was upstairs when it happened. It looks like whoever did this was looking for something but didn't find it. Which means, they might be back."

"So what do you want me to do?"

"Go wake up Micky and Peter. Tell them we need to prepare for their return."

Davy nodded and went to his bedroom first. Once Peter emerged from the bedroom, Davy went upstairs and tried and tried and tried to wake Micky up. He went downstairs and grabbed a bucket of water and splashed it on Micky waking him up instantly.

"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" Micky somewhat screamed as he was startled.

"Mike needs us all downstairs Micky."

"Alright I'm coming."

Micky and Davy emerged from the bedroom on the second floor and as Micky walked downstairs he saw the mess.

"Okay. Which one of you is cleaning this up?"

"Micky, we all are." Davy said walking over to Mike. "But we need to hear Mike's plan first."

"Plan? What plan? What happened?"

Mike spoke up. "We have been burglarized Micky and they were looking for something but didn't find it which means they will be back. We need to prepare for whenever they come."

But how do we do that?" Peter still sounded a bit tired when he asked.

"We make a trap."
