3 weeks later

Their gig career was going good so far. It was soon time for them to take a break about an hour and 30 minutes after they started.

Mike and Peter went to get everyone some drinks while they were on a 10 minute break.

Davy and Micky were joking around a bit. Mike doesn't know how or where Micky gets his energy but sometimes it tires him out.

Peter and Mike walked back to Davy and Micky. "Boy Micky, pipe down will ya." Mike said handing him a bottle of coke.

"Sorry man. I think I just had too much sugar today."

"Nah. That's not it Micky. Your always like this. With or without sugar." Davy joined in the conversation.

"No, I really had a lot of sugar today."

"Remind me to keep him away from sugar when we are about to perform." Mike said as he also handed Davy a coke bottle.

Peter stayed silent as he enjoyed his drink.

Once their break was over, they began their music again.

As Mike was playing his guitar while Micky was singing Last Train to Clarksville, he saw a familiar face in the audiance. That of Babyface alone.

1 hour 30 minutes later

Babyface continued eyeing the quartet. Mike turned to everyone who was about to pack up. Then he whispered quietly: "Leave everything and leave. Now!"

"Mike, what's going on?"

"No time for questions. We need to get out of here."

Micky stood up from his drum set and walked out the back with Peter and Davy following close behind and Mike being the last again.

Mike turned around to look in the audience. Babyface looked directly at him and knew what they were doing.

The four monkees piled in to the MonkeeMobile and Mike drove off. Micky turned around only to see Babyface exit the restaurant as they took off.

"Was that..........?"

"Yes Micky. That was Babyface."

"That's why you rushed us out of 'ere?" Davy asked.

"Yeah. He looks like he wasn't too happy we ran. Mick, we need to keep an eye on you just in case. Knowing Babyface, he's gonna try to get revenge on you."

Peter let out a sigh: "That's gonna be hard Mike. You know how hard it was to keep an eye on you when you were in danger."

"I know Pete. But we can't let them get to Micky."

"If you have to, handcuff him to your wrist so he doesn't wander off by himself."

Davy turned around to look behind them. "Hey Mike, we have a tail."

Mike looked in the rear view mirror and sure enough, there was tail. "Well, there goes goin' home."

"What do we do now?" Peter asked.

"Well, we could try to outrun them. But I don't wanna risk crashing the car."

"What about the police station? Can't we go there?"

"That's not a bad idea. Maybe they will stop following us."

"Okay let's try it." Mike said finally. He took the car into the police station and sure enough, the car stopped following them.

"Let's stay here for a bit. Just to be sure."

Micky turned on the radio and Last Train to Clarksville was playing.

"This is a nice song." Micky said with a wide grin on his face.

"Sure it is." Mike said. "You know who that is dont you?"

"No. Who?"

"That's the Beatles." Mike and Micky both began to snicker.

Davy looked around. "Okay. I think they're gone."

"Okay. Let's go back to the restaurant and retrieve our instruments and then go home."

After they got back to the restaurant, the owner approached Mike. "You forgot your pay. You left in such a hurry. Was everything okay?"

"Yeah. Everything's fine now. Thanks for the pay."

"Anytime." The owner walked away. Davy and Peter walked over to Mike who had a puzzled look on his face.

Davy waved a hand in front of Mike. "Mike? Hello? Earth to Mike?"

"Huh? What?"

"Where did you disappear off to?"

"I just thought I saw someone."

"Come on. We need to get you home big guy. I think your becoming paranoid."

They finally arrive home. "Its good to be in the only safe place on earth."

"Peter, no where is safe. Well, not while we have people after us."

"How many people are after us?"

"I'm not sure. So, watch your backs. Be careful of who approaches you. Make sure it wasn't anyone who was put away because they messed with us."

"That's going to be hard Mike."

"I know it is. And since Babyface was at the gig tonight..........."

Peter interrupted: "So, no more gigs?"

"That's not what I was going to say Pete. We will still have gigs, we just need to be careful there. I'm sure they wouldnt want to draw too much attention to themselves so they are going to try something when there is no one around. "I'm not going to lose y'all again. We have been friends for several years now. I don't think I can handle losing my closest friends."

"We love you too man." Micky said eyeing Peter and Davy as they both nodded.

"We need to fight. We can dodge anything that is thrown at us."

A voice came up from behind Micky: "You sure about that?"

"Micky jumped 10 feet in the air and turned around. It was Babyface. He apparently found his way inside their pad.

Micky walked back slowly over to Mike accidentally walking into him. "What do you want Babyface?" Micky began.

"I just came to retrieve Micky."

"Nope. Micky is staying here. If you don't leave, we will be forced to call the cops."

"Yeah by the time you reach the phone, you'll be dead." He pulled out a gun. "Do I get him or do the rest of you suffer?"

Mike stepped in front of Micky. Davy and Peter followed closely and basically guarded him.

"Heres your answer." Peter looked at Babyface, then back at his friends.

"Okay. Guess I'll do this the hard way." He aimed the gun at Peter and Davy stepped in front of him followed by Mike stepping in front of Davy.

"Loyal friends you have Mr. Dolenz. They are willing to die to save you. What do you think of that?"

"Well, I think I have some loyal friends. That's something you need to learn."

"Yeah. They are loyal. I gotta give them that. But they aren't bullet proof."

A shot rang out.
