Emma Swan parked her car and made her way out of her volkswagen, slamming the door shut behind her and quickly walking into Granny's Bed and Breakfast to escape the frosty Maine air.
"Mornin' Emma!" Granny hollered lightly from behind the bar while she wiped it down with a cloth. The woman had short cropped, curly grey hair and small glasses. She really didn't look all that old to the blonde, but that was besides the point.
"Good morning." Emma said back with a light smile. She pulled her long, winter coat a little closer to her body and sat down at the bar. Her heat reflected from her silk lined coat back to her body, making her feel like she was in a toaster.
"Sure is cold this morning." She mumbled as she ordered a hot and steamy mug of hot cocoa.
"Amen to that." Granny replied with a light chuckle and walked out of sight. Turning her head over her shoulder, Emma noticed that the diner was empty except for a few regulars whom were casually sipping their coffee and reading, or digging into some pancakes. She began to feel herself slowly defrosting in the warm inn and sighed with content. "Just another winter day in Storybrooke." she thought to herself. Emma had managed to finally settle down for a week after being agonized by the mayor and her boyfriend. Don't get her wrong, she loved being deputy, and being closer to Henry, but the stress the mayor placed on her was almost too much. Granny soon returned with her warm mug of the frothy liquid and slid it in front of the blonde, zapping her back into the present.
"Thank you." Emma muttered with a sheepish smile and gently wrapped her gloved hands around the hot glass. She took a sip of the hot drink and felt her insides become instantly warmed. Staring at the picture of Granny and Ruby in front of her on the wall, Emma thought about herself and Henry. They were close, right? Sure, Regina was always at the deputies neck, trying her hardest to keep them separated, but that didn't mean they were truly. She gazed at the picture longingly. Granny and Ruby were not as close as they seemed in the picture, but deep down they loved each other and there was no use in denying it.
A sharp vibration signaled that her phone was getting a call. Emma set down the glass in her hands as her phone buzzed violently in her pocket. After a struggle of taking off a glove and unbuttoning her overcoat, she managed to answer the phone in time, without looking to see who it was."Emma Swan." she says formally as she takes a quick sip of her cocoa.
"Ms. Swan." A velvety voice replies on the other end. It was Regina Mills, speak of the devil."I need your help..." The woman stated with much hesitation.
Emma smirked slightly as she heard how strained the mayors voice seemed when she admitted that she actually did need help every once in a while. The amused blonde rolled her eyes and took another swig of her drink."And what may I have the pleasure of helping you with, Madame Mayor?" she replied sarcastically.
"It's Henry." Regina urges on. "I can't find him."
