There are 8 cognitive functions and, just like in letters, you have to choose four of them.
These functions are:
Si - Introverted Sensing
Se - Extroverted Sensing
Ni - Introverted Intuition
Ne - Extroverted Intuition
Ti - Introverted Thinking
Te - Extroverted Thinking
Fi - Introverted Feeling
Fe - Extroverted Feeling
The dominant (first) and auxiliary (second) functions are the ones that will be written in the letters of your type. The tertiary (third) and inferior (fourth) functions are the ones that may be less developed than the first two.
Two of them (not following each other) must be introverted and the other two - extroverted. If you're an introvert your first function will be introverted, the second will be extroverted, the third has to be introverted and the fourth - extroverted.
The dominant function is the one that our consciousness acknowledges the best. The further the function is from the dominant, the less conscious is it.
To determine somebody's actual type, we need to know what position the function takes. Below, you will be told how to recognize people by their dominant functions.
Dominant functions
Dominant: Introverted Intuition
(INFJ; INTJ)
Introverted intuition is the only unconscious perceiving (Ni; Ne; Si; Se) types. This means that this function works without us acknowledging it.
Intuition is when your subconscious detects things that you weren't able to acknowledge consciously. They take in the information and analyze it, and then come to conclusions in the most random moments. The answers to their questions seem to just pop up in their minds.
People with dominant introverted intuition are the ones that are likely to be the most focused on future. They think of the future possibilities and pick the most likely one to happen. They analyze the past and make conclusions about what will happen in the future.
They are not likely to be focused on the present or may have a hard time trying. They do, however, even if not fully, experience and remember the present to analyze it later.
These people are more focused on patterns, concepts and ideas. They can see the future possibilities very easily, which is the best helper tool when planning ahead. They are very likely to do that too, whether while speaking or simply living their daily life.
They like depth, figuring it all out, being able to see the roots and to fully explain certain situations or one's actions.
Dominant: Extroverted Intuition
(ENFP; ENTP)
People with extroverted intuition, like those with introverted intuition, like thinking about future possibilities. In this case, they like exploring them instead of choosing one.
They often tend to have many ideas that come to mind quickly and easily, and they also experience sudden bursts of high energy. They change the topic and get bored very easily.
They also don't tend to be decisive, like said above, they like exploring new ideas and possibilities.
Dominant: Introverted Feeling
(INFP; ISFP)
People of this function tend to have strong morals and use their feelings as arguments. Their own feelings are very important, and they're always ready to start figuring out who they truly are or their desires.
These people are also the most likely to be daydreaming while doing literally anything. They have a strong desire to express themselves and change the world around them.
They also refuse to see the things that are opposed to their beliefs because of their strong personal values and are likely to get emotionally attached quite easily.

A/N: I'm actually quite lazy to finish this and lack motivation or time to do more research so I'm going to do it later. I'm going to get onto writing next chapters though.
